When she released Songs in A Minor back in 2001, it wasn't hard to fathom that Alicia Keys was going to be around for a while -- a long one. 11 years later, it's a pleasure to see that she's not only remained an asset to the music industry, but has established herself as an actress, philanthropist, play producer. And there's no sign of this superwoman stopping anytime soon.

Lately, inspired by her own upbringing and her 2-year-old son, Egypt, Ms. Keys has delved in the world of apps, releasing her own storytelling app, The Journals of Mama Mae and LeeLee. The interactive app follows LeeLee's relationship with her griot grandmother, Mae. It's through that relationship that Keys hopes to encourage children to explore the world around and beyond them. Within the app, users can use LeeLee's animated bedroom to discover music from other cultures, write in a journal (which Keys says she's obsessed with doing), and watch/listen to stories intended to teach life lessons.

"Unlock Yourself," Alicia Keys' newest lyric video, serves as the app's theme song, which the multi-award winner says her son inspired: "He was still in a bouncer. I put him by the piano and I was like, 'Alright, E, you ready?' and [the music and lyrics] just came." As you listen to and watch the animated video, envision Mama Keys singing to baby Egypt, inspiring him to be "who you're meant to be" and, in turn, inspiring so many other babies. Praises be for Alicia Keys.

If you have a kid (and even if you don't), "unlock" them today by downloading the app on iTunes.
