OkayPoetess Aja Monet sits down with I Don't Camouflage on a brief stay in NYC, to un-camouflage her experience in her current homebase of Paris. Following in the footsteps of James Baldwin (not to mention a who's who of other black american artists and intellectuals from Josephine Baker to Melvin Van Peebles--look it up) Monet showed up on Saul Williams doorstep as an unemployed college grad and found a place for herself and her writing--as well as an 'altered experience' which inspired her to start on a science fiction novel, among other projects.
