If you’ve been wondering, like we have, watch this vid where Saul Williams explains his latest incarnation as “Niggy Tardust.” With his album, The Inevitable Rise And Liberation Of Niggy Tardust, Saul defies genres and categorization, as he does with his character Niggy. Also worth the watch is Episode 1, which takes you behind the scenes of the making of Niggy’s video for “Convict Colony,” after the jump.

I love his explanation of music. Music shouldn’t have boundaries, it’s art. Art is an reflection of who we are then, now, and the future. It shouldn’t be seen as one certain idea or explanation, it’s a million explanations rolled up with another million explanations. Art is everywhere. I respect that.
