Wale x 9th Wonder – Back To The Feature [Mixtape]

I had my doubts if this one would ever drop, but Friday night Wale finally released his Back To The Feature Mixtape with 9th Wonder (Presented by LRG & mixed by Nick Catchdubs). I could sooner write my full auto-biography before I could list all the features on this tape, but I will say that the lineup, as well as the finished product, is very impressive. “Tre” is from UCB, the dc area go-go band that’s been backing wale. they didn’t get peter, bjorn and john for the tape, wale is just going over one of their songs.

listened to the first 8 tracks this morning, and so far, so great.

liked the remixes of “Cypha” and “Chillin”..

but that beat for “5 Minutes” is seriously shitty. the drums sound terrible and the sample is so lo-fi… but i guess not everything 9th touches can be golden, and his drums have always sounded like shitty Frooty Loops presets.

By looking at the rest of the comments I was wondering if we all are listening to the same mixtape…overall I feel it is very lackluster and Wale does not impress me lyrically. Very few bright spots…9th Wonders tracks are just so absolutely lame…go get Skyzoos “Power of Words”…much better listen.

there are some decent tracks, but Wale honestly isn’t anything special. He is the most overrated MC who hasn’t done anything yet. A lot of cliche involved in his spitting. The Diz Gabran, Skyzoo and U-N-I free shit is way better.

Here we go again! A gang of wanna be critics acting like they are the judge and jury of Wale’s career! What a bunch of non-educated hip hop fans! It seems to me that if any MC spits different from what is popular now, they get shot down. I’m like Cube, can you spit better than him? Can you get with any of the MCs on this mixtape? I am so tired of people with nothing to say saying nothing! Stop the non-sense! This is a great mixtape with some of the most progressive beats that I have heard from 9th Wonder. Why do so many people want to just put people down just to do it? No wonder our country is in the sad state it’s in. When someone is moving and shaking, the haters always come out. Get your own s h i t poppin’ off, and stop hating so much. Wale is a breath of fresh air! Like I said in another post, get your hip hop history up so you can tell what a good MC is like! Please!!!
