I know I was at a loss for words last night after the news finally sunk in. As most of you here are aware, ?uestlove has been doing his part in Obama's grass roots campaigning from the beginning. In this video, ?uesto gives his emotional response to Barack Obama being elected President of the United States and warns agains the dangers of feeling complacent as the real work has really yet to begin.

I am in total agreement with this on every level. This is also the first time in my life that I have felt I can truly be what I want to be and do anything I want to do.

your right. man i watched the crowd for obama and it was beautiful. people of all ages and races coming together. this was the dream that Martin Luther King died for and what this country should stand for. but we got work to do. this is the beginning of a long road, yesterday was a step in the right direction.
Hey I am English and a Conservative but I am am absolutely delighted about what has happened in the USA – its about time, the opportunity is there and I hoped it is seized for the good of us all.

America keeps her promise and it only took 400 years. I feel you ?uest. Hope is only the start. Perhaps Hip Hop will find her path back to a positive/creative base as well. Perhaps anything is possible….Perhaps……………
Beautifully said son, could not have said it better myself.I especially
loved the way you were not polictial, but instead you were beautifully
human. The way your mother and I raised you to be.

I’m a Spaniard, hope you won’t mind my writing here. I lived 5 years in your country, and I feel the best America has at last raised its head. This means there’s still HOPE both for you and for the world. But my first reaction back at the night of the election, my reaction from the gut, was not about politics but about emotions. I thought of all the elderly blacks who grew up under Jim Crow and who feel their struggle was worth it. But most of all, I thought about black children who are nearing their teens at this very moment, and who won’t have to grow up feeling they are somehow second class, or that they have to prove something to others simply because of their phenotype.
I’m not sure you are interested in what a white foreigner has to say, but I really love what ?uestlove says in this clip. I strongly believe that we (you, blacks, whites, Hispanics, Americans, foreigners, men, women, gays, Muslims, Jews, Christians, atheists… aka the human race, as in ‘we’ and not as in ‘us’ and ‘them’) are not ‘there’ yet. We’ll probably never get to be fully ‘there’, it will always be a struggle. But I believe this election has moved us several miles in the good direction, proving that it is still rational to believe that sanity will someday triumph over the madness of the policies of hate. Everytime a group of human beings increases their liberty, we all of us become a bit more free. Thank you.
