Video: The RZA Tavis Smiley Interview

Posted by Shamz on

The RZA continues to promote his new book, The Tao of Wu, with this interview with Tavis Smiley. They start out by discussing the impact and the etymology of Wu-Tang, then go on to discuss ODB's passing, RZA's many aliases, and the book, The Tao of Wu. With the weekend coming up, I'd suggest giving the book a read: it's short, but powerful.

It's refreshing to hear a hip hop artist who is educated and so well articulated. I am so tired of hip hop artists glorifying ignorance and unintelligence. Well done RZA.

Good interview and an even better book. I read the book in one sitting over the weekend and it really is a great read. A lot of good stuff in there I would recommend it to anybody.

Good interview as always Tavis makes them comfortable and open up. The book is a great read. It's not a long and you can get so much insight and knowledge out of it.

Much respect to Tavis Smiley for trying to go in depth and not focusing on all the other nonsense that perhaps a "hip hop interviewer" would have tried to hit on like beefs within the clan, etc. I gotta get this book, and the first one as a matter of fact. I'm at the lowest point in my life right now and it seems the only thing that brings me out of the gloom of it all is to discuss or absorb the knowledge of self so as to not to continue trying to pursue a part of this so-called American dream...cuz the shit is a nightmare and a whole lot of nonsense.

It's amazing to see the RZA grown up. Man this is my peer age wise and it's something how you change throughout your life. The talk about ODB was deep and I agree: I don't won't to go not understanding who I am. Damn, he sold me a book and I'm broke!

Excellent. Goes to show the power of an interviewer to either bring out the best or the worst in someone. Good job Tavis, good job Robert.
