Video: The Foreign Exchange Soul Bounce Interview

After The Foreign Exchange's recent show in Washington D.C., the good people over at Soul Bounce got this exclusive interview with the group. "Phonte, Nicolay, YahZarah, Zo! and Darien Brockington sat down with SB for an interview that was both candid and comical. Press play to find out the secret to The Foreign Exchange's music, about the upcoming albums from the entire crew – yes, even Phonte – and what would happen if President Barack Obama cut a record with Auto-Tune and why they would never do a reality television show."

Phonte is a good MC and the production from the Foreign Exchange is dope! They really compliment each other in that group. If the CD is as good as the interviewer says I’ll actually spend money on it instead of downloading it. I’ll spend money on certain artist: DeLaSoul (ya’ll slept on the Grind Date) Truly a good cd. Common and a few others. I know Im coping that Red and Meth CD when it drops.

One more thing about Phonte… he is the everyman, the common man with uncommon lyrical skill. He writes good songs. It’s hard to write a good song. I find that most MC’s that write good songs aren’t good freestylers. I don’t think that’s a bad thing. It just means when you finally put something together it’s well thought out. Where as rappers that can come off the dome will sometimes put out any bullshit and end up being repetitive. Kanye for example: I saw him supposedly do a freestyle with Mos Def on YouTube. He came off looking real good and Mos didn’t look so good. I know Mos can rap off the top of the dome but that night his freestyle came up a lil’ short but, you can tell he freestyled. Well then Kanye jumped on the mic and he ripped it but you can tell he wrote that shit and he pulled it out for just an occasion like that one. Kanye came uff looking shiney and Mos looked rusty. Kanye needs to write his shit because I believe there is thought behind every word he says because it means more to him because i believe he feels he has to prove to everyone else that he can rap. This is probably due to what he went through in the begining when he first said that he wanted to put out his own cd and Jay-Z heard his first attempts and he said it was garbage. Now he outsells Jay-Z. There’s a lesson in there somewhere boys and girls.
