Video: Solillaquists of Sound “Gotham City Chase Scene”

Following on the heels of the grippingly stark clip for "Marvel," Solillaquists of Sound return with a video for "Gotham City Chase Scene." The second in their trilogy of videos from their 2009 album No More Heroes (Anti-/Epitaph) and once again directed by producer/visionary X:144, "Gotham City Chase Scene" lives up to its name, featuring a squad of agents in hot pursuit of the SoS members. (read more after the jump)

Shot on a zero dollar budget in the heat of Orlando's summer (temperatures during the shoot went as high as 100 degrees!), "Gotham" proved to be a true community effort; the video features the talents of local Parkour group Team Zoic, as well as appearances by prominent members of the city's art and music scenes. The Solilla crew wound up shooting enough footage for a short movie during their grueling shooting schedule (an effort that will be highlighted in an upcoming behind-the-scenes documentary – check out the documentary trailer below).

The end result is a compelling, action-packed clip that demands multiple viewings, and acts as a revealing prequel to the "Marvel" clip. Stay tuned for the third installment in Solilla's video trilogy…

    X:144,
You’re a hell of a talent, mate. Big ups to you and the Solilla fam for a great song and a great video. Definitely happy to see the indie hiphop community upping the music video ante while on a minimal budget. That takes innovation, talent and vision. Respect.

Nuff respect to Solilla for creating such dope music, and having one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen. Also to X:144 for not only being one of the illest dudes one the 1′s & 2′s, but for making some really great videos.

Over a week later from seeing this I feel even stronger about it as it’s posted for the world to see here at OkayPlayer! So amazed by this entire production – X:144 is incredible and the Solillaquists are profound – and this video made me cry while it strengthened the concept that we must BE the change we want to see happen – because shit will happen that we must be prepared for, by making a difference while we still have the ability to do so.
This makes the 2nd video (which was actually produced first) MARVEL – come in to more understanding. Powerful storyline, the 3rd installment is going to be phenomenal. Technically superb, but I especially love the boxes (I’m a fan of several box visuals in one screen) allowing us to see the opposite takes telling the full story – the close ups, like this video, are genius.
