Raphael Saadiq hits us today with his 60s-stylized black and white grainy video for “Let’s Take A Walk,” off of his album The Way I See It which is in stores now. Check out the bathing beauties in this one. The choreography is directly influenced by old Hollywood movies and the work of Busby Berkeley, who organized the dancers in that iconic kaleidoscope style display. “It’s a throwback to those old choreographers. The routine: In a circle with the sky cam pointing down, the girls legs kicking out, like synchronized swimming, but not in the pool,” Saadiq says. So kick back and transport yourself back in time.

Im diggin it!
fabtastic!
loving the feel. very nice.
those costumes are pretty silly. but the choreography was great.
aaaaah…not feelin’ it. Like, they made the video grainy and black and white, to capture an old 60′s sort of vibe, but then shot the video like something from 2009. It cancels the whole effect right out, and it seems like they just decided to do the black and white thing AFTER they already made the video and they just threw it on there. Kinda wack.
to capture that 60s affect, he should have been more subdued in his own performance and let the dancers do everything. He should have watch some old sam cook performances.
R. Saadiq is one of the most MODEST BUT INFLUENTIAL Soul Men/Producer/ Writer in the music industry for the past 20 some odd years. He’s is the official FOREVER SLOW BURN!!!!
Another piece of music that will last as long as humans have ears.
will feature this one

I am a long time Raphael Saadiq fan. I love all his uniqueness in all he has ever done. I am constantly playing my old cd’s from the 60′s, 70′s, 80′s and 90′s so this is a very nice throw back for me. I loved the collaboration with D’Angelo, (Will someone tell D’Angelo I love and miss him so much and to please come to Houston or Dallas I will travel to see him).
Great vid. I was wondering, though…does he say “and I need some help”, or “and I need some head”? I know, I know, but he does already mention sex and smoking on the CD, so…
fabtastic times two.
There was one girl right up front who broke formation and was dancing too fast, I hate it when that happens, she spoiled the wide shot. Otherwise great throwback video, for a throwback song, for a great musician and all within budget. His blatant sex (circa 1996) lyrics give him away though.
still a fan.
Loved it!
is bebop, classical, latin big band ( merengue salsa etc) reggae, calipso, polka, hindu music… throwback? what is that? like if you go to a classical hall, do you go, ah great, they’re playing music from 300 years a go but i like it, that’s kind of gimmicky….. no?
