Video: OKPTV, The Roots present The Jam, feat. Kweli, John Forte Jr., & Cap’n Kirk.

Black Thought, Talib Kweli, & John Forte Jr. from Okayplayer on Vimeo.

Since everyone can't live in New York City, OKP took our camera crews into "The Roots present The Jam" @ The Highline Ballroom to bring you a virtual video taste of the new weekly jam session.  The jump off last week was a crazy first show, with Talib Kweli, Pharoahe Monch and John Forté Jr. trading verses side by side, along with Black Thought and Dice Raw.  (Stay tuned for our extended edit with Pharoahe Monch and Dice Raw‘s verses.) Later in the evening Chrisette Michele and Raheem DeVaughn graced the stage for some off-the-top crooning, scatting included (unfortunately our audio got jacked up so we can't include this one in our video).  Overall it was an incredible evening.  Check out these two webisodes for the live experience brought directly to your 'puter.  After the jump is the 2nd video in this series, and it fully captures one of Capn' Kirk's amazing guitar solos.  Look at those fingers!

’09 is a mineral year…the year of the story tellers and it sounds like the “roots jam” may be the spot to catch of the illist Griots!
    keep the vibration high.
