Video: Mos Def on Yo Gabba Gabba

We all remember The Roots' stint on Nick Jr. show Yo Gabba Gabba. Now, Mos Def aka Super Mr. Super Hero tries his hand on the show (WOW @ that costume). Watch as Mos and co. try to rescue their lost friend Starsky through song and dance. I mean, if you have kids or younger siblings I'm sure they'd get some enjoyment from this.

haha nice. I cringe when some artists do this, but I guess since I’ve already seen Mos act in a bunch of silly shit through his career that it doesn’t bother me. The Roots did an exceptional job at doing a Yo Gabba Gabba song that wasn’t completely embarrassing either, by changing up their format and not trying to have Black Thought rap.
And check out what the best-selling Roots singles are of all time on I-Tunes if you ever want to know why hip hop artists do stuff like this. The Root’s song from Yo Gabba Gabba is like their 3rd best-selling single.

    “c’mon lil’ buddy…C’MON lil buddy.”

I really respect Mos for being professional. I doubt if any of the new rappers out now would take the time to entertain the children at the cost of being silly, intentionally anyways.

Check out those super loafers and psychedelic geometric pattern socks! Haha, glad to see the red dude got a deal with KIA

Mos Def transcends hip hop conformity. No one called him a sell out when he did Top Dog/UNder Dog. No one called him a sell out when he took to the big screen. No one called him a sell out when he he came out with Black Jack Johnson. So how would a Yo Gabba appearance suddenly make him one?

The late 90’s was a dark time for hip hop (in my opinion) and i was on my way out. Mos brought me back.

I like the loafers and the socks.

    hahaha Mos is the man

I LOVE it when artists do this. The show is created by musicians (see lead singer of the Aquabats) and features tons of electro-inspired music, 8-bit visuals and the legendary Biz Markie. Big ups to all those who recognize the greatness of this show.

What’s so f*ckin’ embarrassing about being on a quality show for children? I have no kids, I love this show, and Mos rocked it.

I really like those loafers and the socks, seriously!!! I think they would go perfect with my BDU shorts and this suede wife-beater that I just copped.

Maaaaan; my fashion game is crazy!!! I’m killing them this summer!!!

As an artist, I’ve always hoped of being a guest on shows like this and Sesame Street. I hope I get my chance to do it, one day. I consider shows like this something to be proud especially since I have a little one of my own. Peace.
