Long overdue, but we've got some more visuals from Mos Def's now grammy-nominated LP, The Ecstatic. Mos shines dolo in this new video for "Supermagic." Video directed by Dribblez & Weirdcore. If you haven't picked up The Ecstatic yet, I don't know what you're waiting for.

Videos used to be so major, now they’re these artistic afterthoughts. Nice, I guess. But this is probably the album of the year and nothing more meaningful for visuals? Oh well…

  • KD06

This Mos just didn’t do it for me… The album was so so.

    sometimes simplicity is good

This is definitely my favorite album of the year. When non hip-hop people complain that the art hasn’t changed in ten years I point them towards Mos Def.

  • cras.ca

Yeah I could have used a more creative/intricate video, but the song and album, still dope!

if this album didn’t do it for you, find your nearest bridge or building and leap off of it.

I thought it was dope. sometimes less is more (cliche drop) but yea Im a Mos Fan he is one of those artist’s that can really do no wrong if you ask me, even tho he has done some suspect stuff…but I think that is what keeps him on kilter. But as I watched although I was stuck I was wondering could I do something like that and get away with it? I have seen other artist take the minimalist approach like hezekiah and fresh daily I believe had similar videos with them just spitting and it wasn’t as effective. Maybe because I’m not attached to there artistry as I am say a mos def.

This video is dope. Did anyone else catch the images flashing on the screen? I thought I saw a pic of brains or intestines or something?!? Or maybe im just crazy?

  • Artistry

No One catches the Jacksons reference Blame it on the Boogie.

  • Y. Bae

1:38 Michael-Myers-esque… way to go, Tyler Durden.

  • Gangsta of Love

You’re now rocking with the “Def.” Nice video!!!

    @ Artistry;

You’re on to something; this video definitely reminds me of the Jacksons’ video. I wonder if it was a tribute to Michael Jackson?

  • ruin

song and video are okay. album as a whole was dope though.

  • lord jazz

i dig the video! it perfectly fits the rhythm of the song and is a nice mj reference. dope and simple

  • a2the

This is the most annoying video ever. One of the most interesting songs on the album. What a shame…

  • a2the

Oh, & I caught the reference, but whereas the Blame It On The Boogie video was cool & kinda trippy, this one was just hard to watch & unentertaining. I kept waiting for it to get interesting. I’ve come to expect more out of my man.

aristry you are right.. on the down beat throughout the video it flashes with some cgi … makes it a little more than simple
