Video: Miguel Atwood-Ferguson Ensemble “Someday We’ll All Be Free” feat. Bilal

I love NY to the death, but this is one of those moments where I wish I was still in Cali. On July 23rd, the Miguel Atwood-Ferguson Ensemble put on a free concert in L.A. You should be familiar with Miguel for his incredible work on Mochilla's Suite for Ma Dukes project, where he arranged music for the late J Dilla for a full orchestra. Back to July 23rd, Miguel assembled an all-star cast of musicians and special guests including Flying Lotus, Aloe Blacc, Bilal, Stephen 'Thundercat' Bruner, Chris 'Daddy' Dave, and many more at the Grand Performances California Plaza. In this particular clip, watch as Bilal performs a moving cover of Donny Hathaway's "Someday We'll All Be Free." You can download the audio right here. Check after the jump for a clip of ?uestlove speaking on Bilal and going so far as to call him the "greatest specimen of voice in post-modern hip hop culture…" Airtight's Revenge will be in stores September 14th via Plug Research.

Miguel is killing em right now… That Suite for Ma Dukes was unreal. I slept on it and then I kept the disc and the dvd. The Dvd was classic. Hip hop on a higher level…
