First off, let us politely acknowledge our late pass. We’ve been seriously sleeping on Stones Throw’s new talent, Mayer Hawthorne. But sleep we will no longer! Above, watch the video for “Just Ain’t Gonna Work Out,” – it’s a fresh spin on that old black and white 60′s feel (we’re loving the heart record!). His album, A Strange Arrangement,is due out September 9th. After watching Mayer kill it at The Roots Jam this past week, we just can’t get enough of that buttery voice!

saw Mayor Hawthorne live in LA few weeks ago. Dude has potential but they F’d up his vocals so I couldn’t hear him. He’s not bad.
