    PEACE FROM COLUMBUS, OHIO…

Black music has evolved from many subjects. The swag era has the hip hop industry on lock, and has been there for almost a year and a half. For our beloved rhythm and blues,”the year of the gentleman” was not just an album title. Men were taught not to wait around and “put a ring on it,” and we saw how a girl would act if she were one of us. But I must say, GROWN AND SEXY IS ABOUT TO RECLAIM THE THRONE!!!!. Yes, L=ladies and Gentlemen, I said it; the era of grown and sexy is back, and Maxwell is the reason for it. The song, “Pretty Wings,” describes how precious and angelic a woman can be if she accepts love. The beat did not do much for me until i started paying more attention. The light bass and heavy rim shots aid Maxwell’s soulful signature sound once again. Did i mention this videos is hot? The video is simplistic and tasteful. Yes, you see women and much of there skin, but you also see beauty and not lust. Mad props the director creating visual art for a Maxwell hit. I might be 21, but am aware of the impact Maxwell is going to have with his trilogy, BLACKSUMMER’SNIGHT. i will be waiting impatiently for
    July 7th.

    PS- D.HOGG YOU KNOW WUSSUP!

Without a doubt, his album will be a very good one and a positive one, like his other albums and music.

‘Max’ makes great music. What the hell is “black music”? Why the racial annotations? It’s good music! And, technically Maxwell is not “black”. His other is from the Carribean and father is Puerto Rican.

Do your thing my ‘Boricua’ brother!!!

Re the commentator TAINO MAN who bewilderingly wrote ‘Technically Maxwell’s not even Black. His mother is from the Caribbean and his father is Puerto Rican’. Newsflash dude: Puerto Ricans are Black–meaning they too are a people of African descent (though some are, granted, in denial of this fact)– as are most of the inhabitants of the so-called ‘Caribbean’ islands. Real question is why do some folk still feel threatened by the term ‘Black Music’ when they wdnt blink if we spoke of German music’ or Jamaican music’? Saying Black music proudly declares Maxwell’s culture/ethnicity and the various forms of historic music that would not exist without the collective creative script-flipping genius of Blackfolk worldwide: blues, jazz, rock n roll, reggae, Afrobeat, hiphop, house, techno, funk, R&B etc etc etc.So don’t be skeered TAINO MAN. Like the great jazz muso once said ‘Black is such a lovely color, you can do so many things with it’. Plus I doubt Maxwell isn’t honored to be considered part of the same grand Black Atlantic music tradition that produced Duke Ellington, Miles Davis,Arrow, Celia Cruz,Jimi Hendrix, Fela, Bob Marley,Rokia Traore, and Marvin Gaye.

Maxwell, your artistry and style is simple elegance laid to music and I know this is your finest work. Pretty Wings, fly to your height and let the world know that singing, dressing and crafting the art form of singing with meaning is really soulful. Fly on.
