Video: Hypnotic Brass Ensemble “Scrabble” Live

Lets jazz things up a little bit here. Y'all ready for some brass? Presented by Vtech and Mochilla here we have a vid of the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble at work. In case you are unfamiliar with the ensemble: "Born in Chicago, these 8 brothers are all sons of their father Phil Cohran, who was a songwriter and trumpeter for Sun Ra. With a heavy upbringing in the jazz tradition, the brothers also started listening to hip hop acts such as NWA, Public Enemy, Ice Cube and Eazy-E, bringing their music straight to the streets of Chicago, eventually moving to New York City where they played with the likes of Mos Def and Erykah Badu." In this clip we get a re-cap of their recent L.A. performance featuring an arrangement by Miguel Atwood-Ferguson (Suite for Ma Dukes), in their cover of Rene Costy's "Scrabble," a song sampled by the late great J Dilla for his song "Fuck the Police." Check out features from Aloe Blacc and Madlib as well in the vid.
