Last week, Homeboy Sandman had an album release party for his new album, The Good Sun @ SOBs (What Up Akilah!). I was in attendance and to see an artist who's generally ignored by the mainstream get that much love from the fans was really something – the place was packed. Other performances that night included Tanya Morgan, Spec Boogie, Fresh Daily, Che Grand, P.SO, John Robinson, J-Live, and more. Here is some footage of Boy Sand's performance (courtesy of Shankar). Peace to Thievin Stephen for this. The Good Sun is in stores now.

Been hearing great things about HomeBoy. Dope that the crowd came out for that Real HipHop
A beautiful night for NYC hip-hop!
Shamz/Shankar – THANK YOU SOOO MUCh for the dope review! Events like these are why I entered this business in the first place. Like I’ve been saying, we ALL made that night happen.
Thank you for being a part of it.
This is my company’s VERY first review/appearance on OKP so excuse me while I tear up.
Angels With Dirty Faces is the best song of 2010
That show was so dope!!! I you can’t say enough to explain how phenomenal it was … Boy Sand is the TRUTH!!!
Mainstream ain’t ignoring him. Mainstream signs the people that made the music he is using. Mainstream knows he is stealing their beats and they can’t work with that.
Homeboy Sandman Made that night. Everyone else who rocked was garbage. It was drink after drink of waiting. Good thing I arrived around 10, who knows what other wackness I would have been exposed to just to see a dope artist rock the mic.
Unfortunately the writer failed to mention it was Spec Boogie’s album release party as well..
yerp! TPA— Spec’s album wasn’t available that day.
Pale Rider— You Missed the Sleepwalkas-not Garbage!!!. I’m hoping you missed J live’s Performance or were standing outside by mistake. That was one of the dope moments of the night. There were a lot of people hanging outside though so I heard. Like mad people. Until Sand came in, then there was that memorable moment when people were clapping. That was legendary. The crowd initiated the show and Sand gave em what they wanted. That was dope!!!
oh sweat nice footage Shankar!! dope!
All in all it was a great night. I disagree that everyone that night was “garbage”. It definitely WAS Homeboy Sandman’s night tho. The Good Sun is GREAT
