No De La Soul performance is complete without "Stakes Is High." In continuation of this post from earlier in the week, BMUSE just sent out this video of De La performing one of their greatest hits at The Key Club last week.

History DEFINITELY repeats itself. Is’nt the “player/mafia-wannabe” climate of Hip Hop that De La addressed back in ’96 with “Stakes Is High” kind of mirror the “bling/I’m a goon” era that is running out of steam right now?
Perfect time for De La Soul to come back out to contrast ugly with beauty! And Happy 20th Anniversery of “3 Feet High and Rising”, the first hip hop album I ever bought! Peace!

They are definitely one of the best to do it.
Legendary.
Who wasn’t bumping Stakes on their pre-iPod walkman/cd player and listening to on it on headphones that was missing the foam earpiece? I’m amazed how this joint is still relevant. These dudes were prophets back in ’95-’96 when they dropped Stakes Is High ’cause the culture hasn’t changed one bit. Just goes to show how hip-hop in general still has a long ways to go till it grows up.
”never fallin off stop waitin for the thump” pos.
De La….Thank you for showing the world how it’s done…Classic
