Video: Chester French on OkayplayerTV

OkayplayerTV crew Tunji and Greg The Dude caught up with Star Trak/Interscope artists Chester French after their show at LA's Spaceland. The duo speak on how the band came together while they were studying at Harvard University, their live show, and their collaboration with Common and Pharrell on Universal Mind Control. Get to know The D.A. and Max a little better in their OKPTV segment, then check out two exclusive remixes to their song "She Loves Everybody" done by The Neptunes and Steve Aoki (respectively), as well the "Jimmy Choos" remix by El-P. After the jump is a very, umm, interesting widget filled with more songs and info on the group. Chester French’s She Loves Everybody EP is in stores now.

The EL-P & Neptunes remixes are labeled wrong. Please correct this error.

  2. avatar CENTZ

not quite, they are labeled correctly, checked iTunes, sorry to burst your bubble

  3. avatar proven

i was at that show. dudes have mad energy. inverse killed it too.

  4. avatar winegeek

I don’t know what this crap is doing on okayplayer. this is so some of the worst, creatively empty, lazy and soulless “music” I’ve ever heard. How much are they paying you guys?

  5. avatar unkle

    @winegeek

ouch. thats harsh. dont be so closed minded homey. common, pharrel, and kweli support these dudes and so does your unkle.

  6. avatar dantana

i did accidentally have those remixes switched but i fixed it last night, thanks. oh, and okayplayer does not charge for editorial, just promotions (banners, etc). lastly, questo was in the office all day yesterday when we were working on this. he went on record saying he was he happy we were giving Chester French some shine because he “loves those guys,” so add that to the list of co-signs.

  7. avatar b'lush

jimmy choos is hot. beat is hard and 80′s.

  8. avatar young tunj

man, I love these guys. as people and as artists. the world is going to take notice of them very soon.

    Dantana:

That’s my point exactly: The website and this page are plastered with Chester French banners, links and advertisements and Look! …now there’s a highly visible puff piece dominating okayplayer’s homepage for an entire week. It’s called blatantly selling out and, to somebody who’s visited this page daily since the turn of the millenium, it’s embarrassing to watch. For real, how pathetically ironic is it that okayplayer.com (a site originally intended to build and reinforce grassroots support of artists that were being largely ignored and/or taken advantage of by the mainstream industry/media) is now exploiting it’s own credibility to advertise this stylized, substance-less crap made by two Harvard grads signed to Universal (a GE subsidiary, no less!) and recently featured on the Entourage soundtrack. Take a peek at the black column to the right of this post – I come here to support artists with creativity, soul, and integrity. I don’t come here to be spoon-fed and brainwashed into buying the latest 4th quarter widget that Universal is peddling. This is sad.

I met DA and he’s pretty f^cking cool.

  11. avatar d. chaste

yeah i got to meet them both
    they’re really cool people
    love’em to death
jimmy choo’s the original and the remix are my fav
i love when they do the original live in concert…AWSMAZING lol

  12. avatar tsmith102

I was at a concert and he told me to “snap motherf*****” when they were in atlanta. They are so cool!

  13. avatar yeshyall

These guys are on the homepage pretty hard.

did something change at okayplayer or is this some form of nepotism?

  14. avatar Jesse Furman

Not my sound, not enough force in the voice, alright lyrics, kind of weak sauce to be honest

  15. avatar monalisa.

they put on a really good show in atlanta. at first we were cracking “napoleon dynamite” jokes, but they have very good crowd control. they made me wanna check out their music after the show.

  16. avatar Jeff L.

Sounds like the Ben Folds. It’s weird. It’s similar to how Uffie secretly sucks, but is infectious.

  17. avatar FireBreezy

    people complain, complain, complain.
    wow.

  18. avatar pfeif diggy

I saw these guys in Pittsburgh when they opened for N.E.R.D. They didn’t do much for myself or the crowd. Not really a fan, but if people like em’ cool.

  19. avatar jonny shahid

wow, white kids can get away with anything, seems like every black rap honcho is glamoring for a white artist, any white artist.

  20. avatar Mikey Digital

    To winegeek:

You are entitled to your opinion homey, but you don’t have to be so harsh yo. If Chester French doesn’t do it for you, then don’t listen to their music. I wish people would stop being so damn closed minded, especially us NINJAS (black people)…

  21. avatar Cullen lover...

Heyy…if you want to fight then leaver this site, I wouldn’t even bother to write ANYTHING at all if I was you “winegeek” :/. Ever heard the expression “If you arn’t going to say anthing nice, don’t say anything at all?”. Anyway…Chester French rock, but I still think Max Drummey is cool, he dosn’t really seem to pay attention to the spotlight…you know being married to Peaches Geldof.

-You see bigger and better from these guys, watch this space.

    -Cullen lover…

  22. avatar Blaazin

    these dudes are whack…

  23. avatar Enokoner

This is all sorts of powerful weak…Is this some kind of joke?
