The other night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, history was made (as well as performed). Watch as Black Star reunites to perform "History" with some help from The Roots crew (and The Dirty Projectors). "History" appears on Mos Def's album, The Ecstatic, which is in stores now.

Hmm. I slightly like the album version better just cause it brings a lot more energy. This version pretty good though. It has a lot of soul to it.

Two of the best MCs in history along with my favourite band. Can it get any better. Great job by all and excellent performance. Now if you excuse me I’m going to go watch it again.

I love how those chicks are just singing the sample. It always looks ridiculous when you do it alone, but somehow here, it works with a lot less of the quirkiness.

Real quick testimonial… ( I havent even watched the video yet cuz of my slow ass laptop internet) BUUUTTT, its just amazing how i can relate to what someone else said about these two groups changing my life… in 97, me and my best friend went to the legendary TRAMPS (NYC heads know bout that) to see this new group, BlackStarr and the Roots perform in which was one of the greatest shows ive ever seen in my life… And of course the roots, kweli and mos have blessed us all since then with many epic records…. Seeing this video will im sure remind me of that day in the city when the mics went out and Dice Raw freestyled for 5 mins solo with NO MIC on stage for the crowd to keep the show going… Now thats what you call, PRICELESS…

    P.S
Cant forget Mr. Man for showing up and performing with BS as well as the Jazzy Fat Nasty’s….

“POTENT PERFORMANCE + AWESOME ALBUM (“THE ECSTATIC”) + DOPE DUO + BEST BAND = HELLAULTRAGROOVY WAVES OF SOUND”.-KIN CAMELL(GOOGLE THAT)

Why is it that i watch Jimmy Fallon nearly every night and I rarely catch these clasic performances. They need yet another show to showcase all these jointz at once and they should start interviewing these artist and leave all that lick it for 10 BS for Jimmy’s home movies. If it wasn’t for the Roots I would watch even less. The greatest band in Late Night? How bought the greatest band period

Can I just take a second to say, “Thank You” I love the fact that not only the ROOTS but Jimmy Fallon are really trying to help America see what TRUE HIPHOP is. I’ve listened to all of these artists and really studied their work Talib, Mos, The Roots and I feel like they are on the edge of a cultural revolution. Bringing truth and wisdom back into the world of HIPHOP.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU you guys are really doin it and I just hope AMERICA is smart enough to see it and embrace it. I know for myself and my group Doxology we look up to artists like you. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
