Video: Anthony Hamilton “A Change Is Gonna Come”

Anthony Hamilton's new album The Point of It All hit stores this past Tuesday. His nation-wide "Playin' It Cool" Tour in support of the release just wrapped up this past week. We have some video from the tour of Mr. Hamilton covering Sam Cooke's classic "A Change Is Gonna Come." Now nobody can sing this song like Sam Cooke, but this is just about as close as it gets.

Two words… Baby Huey… not just the best version of ACGC, but probably the best re-imagining of a classic I have ever heard.

Lauryn’s was one of the best I’ve ever heard.

This is gonna sound wack, but having heard a lot of covers of this great song, including all the afforementioned renditions, Wayne Brady does one of the bedt versions I’ve ever heard. Yes, Wayne Brady, he released an album recently and covers this song on it. He also breathes new life into the Stevie Wonder classic “All I Do.” Don’t sleep, check it out. Props to Anthony, Lauryn, Carl, Aretha. Sam Cooke changed music y’all.

I have an interesting bit of information. Lauryn’s version is always deleted from youtube for copyright infringement while all the other versions are allowed to stay. I find that interesting. Someone just loaded it again a few days ago. I will have to see how long that version is allowed to stay up.

Well behind AL GREEN’s live, ass-whompin’ version from a few years ago (at some show for Bill Clinton), this is my personal #2 best. You betta sang, Ant!

    OTIS REDDING!!!

    Anthony can blow though!

I also reckon Otis’ version is the best, actually i think Otis made a lot of Sam Cookes song better than Sam himself.

I also love Terrence Trent D’Arbys version. And Bobby Womack

    Anthony is always pure gold.

    All I can say,
    About the performance,
    I saw that day.
    It was simply marvelous.
    I wish you may,
    have a real chance,
    to watch and you’ll reply,
    That it’s just fabulous.
