We've got a special announcement today! Live from the one year anniversary of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (congrats to all involved), ?uestlove announced the lineup for the 2010 Roots Picnic. The 3rd annual event will be going down Saturday June 5th at the Festival Pier at Penns Landing in Philly. Headlining the days festivities will be Vampire Weekend, with performances from Mayer Hawthorne, The Clipse, The Very Best, Tune-Yards, Das Rascist, Bajah + The Dry Eye Crew, Pattern is Movement, The Money Making Jam Boys, a special set with DJ Jazzy Jeff on the turn tables and ?uesto working percussion, and of course performances from The Legendary Roots Crew. In an effort to out-do the memorable Roots x Public Enemy It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back performance from last year (a tall feat), ?uesto drops a hint that a reunion for the ages will be going down on stage this year. Judging by his hints I'm guessing it's some trio from queens who wore fedoras, shell toed Adidas, and dookie rope gold chains. Tickets will go on sale this Friday (March 5th) via Live Nation.

although unfortunate, a run-dmc without jam master jay is like the roots minus questlove…it just doesn’t feel right. Also, again unfortunate, but most people know that DMC’s pipes are blown, and if it’s anything like the Montreux Festival footage, it’s painful to watch. I love Run DMC but seeing a set by them? maybe not..
is there any way to get tix other than from live nation. them cats got all sorts of hidden inconvenient “convenience charges”

Roots- I love ya, but $66 + $15 fee ($81?!?!) to bake in the sun at that horrid Festival Pier, trapped like rats, with only insanely overpriced crappy beer and REALLY crappy food to sustain us, and porta potty attendants who won’t give you any hand sanitizer unless you tip them?!?!?! NOT GONNA DO IT THIS YEAR. F you LiveNation for ruining what should be an awesome annual event.

Vampire Weekend it’s obvious whoever organizes this shit event is not a fan of music. No we don’t want to pay that much money just to see The Roots play(which is the only great band play) don’t kid yourself Run DMC is done, and they should stop performing. So you pay $88 to be trapped in a small venue, shit food, annoying hipsters, and worst of all baking in 90 degree weather. Fuck this shit

price is high … but just going to this starts summer on the right foot … last year was great .. the year before that with gnarls and the cool kids was also great… hopefully for 81$ we get our moneys worth…

$15 per ticket to ticketmaster convenience charge? That is totally ridiculous. I’m sure this will be amazing, but there really should be an option for locals to purchase without the ticketmaster abuse. What the ydo is criminal.
