Back in October, Okayplayer and on-line community for producers, Indaba Music, launched a healthy remix contest using stems from two tracks off The Roots' Rising Down album. Round 1 called for remixes of the song "Criminal" and yielded 25 winners. Round 2 asked those 25 to remix the song "I Can't Help It." The results have been tallied, and a winner (and honorable mentions) determined. Congratulations to Philadelphia's own Static Pro, who's intricate remix won for "best over-all." Thank you to all who participated, it is refreshing to hear how much talent there is out there. Static Pro will now have an opportunity to record an original song with members of The Roots and special guests. Each of the finalists will also receive an autographed copy of Rising Down (thanks ?uesto).

good job static pro… really feelin the remix – I especially liked the guitars, and the way the music sped up and slowed down. the way the beat matched black thought’s verse was perfect. didn’t love the ending tho.
amiam’s was ill too. wasn’t really feelin the other two.

“The Twinsbee” made the smoothest remix .. with some cool notes .. Gabe Noel sent this to another galaxy but it wasn’t really a “song” anymore .. AMIAM had a good one too .. sounded a bit like an usual boombaphiphop track .. static pro had a technically good remix ..

Twinsbees had nice live sounding drums and pretty smooth
AmIam had a nice added verse but the music got old – too repetitive and needed higher quality instruments, production, arrangement etc….
I see why Static Pro won def the best on the page very different – well produced – arrangement was crazy and was a awesome remix for 10 days of work – well earned – congrats
Static Pro’s remix is like some of the finest green. Hits you like a ride of introspection and entertainment all in one.
