Nas "Fried Chicken" ft Busta Rhymes (Dirty) (Exclusive)
Posted by dantana on Jun 27, 2008

Ever since the radio rip of Nas' "Fried Chicken" (featuring Busta Rhymes and produced by Mark Ronson) hit the web two weeks ago, it has stayed at the top of our list of songs we've heard so far off Nas' Untitled album. The clean version sans-DJ was serviced a few hours ago by Best Of Both Offices. Meanwhile we were waiting for the diry version before posting. Well wait no more. I am still mad at Busta for ruining "La La" but this might make up for it. Untitled is in stores July 15th on Def Jam.

wow, this was good and clever...and fun. hope it gets play. now, i don't know if i want fried chiken, sex, or both. j/k lol
*just to take the guilty from in front of pleasure, here's a culinary school nerd history fact: evidence of deep frying can be found as early as 5BCE in ancient Egypt (fried cakes), then it begins to appear in china, japan (tempura!), southern europe... and the deep frying of meats is believed to predate european contact with west and central africans, fried chicken being a special occasion dish...then the transatlantic slave trade happens and we know the rest. cooking in lots of oil isn't the healthiest, but if the ancestors did it and we're still here, then i'm not scared of death by fried chicken consumption.

Nas....best of all time putting it out there too Nasty too consistent too creative untouchable. The song is hot and fits well with the intended theme of the upcoming album. The irony of the message is sick ....you are left wondering ..what is the solution when something that defines my identity and culture has an adverse affect on my health and serves to further a stereotype of my people...what do I do when so much that defines my identity comes from a culture of slavery and oppression how to you overcome such things without sacrificing your identity...watermelon , kool-aide, chicken and beer. a

has anyone noticed how mark ronson done changed his accent 180 degrees to the other side of the atlantic since his 2003 release? seriously, listen to his pseudo-american wannabe accent on 'here comes the fuzz', and now all of a sudden he's a little posh english boy again (check his background, dude is a little poshie from london's affluent jewish neighbourhood) with his amy winehouse/lilly allen work.

Is chicken a metaphor for women or is this song really about chicken? I think Busta Rhyme's verse was about hot dogs....no homo. The hook should go "niggas love chicken, niggas love chicken, niggas love chicken, niggas love chicken". And there should be a crazy dance with it too.

This subject matter has been touched in a few "underground" songs and cyphas already in hip-hop to little or no fan fare...it will be interesting to see if this throwback topic gets the "brand-new" treatment like everybody's obsession with 80's and 90's apparel...priorities people damn...keep building Nas hopefully the foundation won't crumble this time...
