We seem to be hitting y'all with some must-attend events every week at this point. This week will be no different as this Wednesday (2/11) Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg will be bringing y'all the latest edition of his Noisemakers series, this time featuring ?uestlove. It will be a night of music and conversation with famed musician, journalist and producer ?uesto. The night will also include Qool DJ Uncle Q on the 1s and 2s, and the Jazz Hip-Hop fusion band, Igmar Thomas and The Cypher, who will perform a tribute to ?uesto's music. OKP will be in the house, and if you're in the NYC area you should be too. It's goin' down at the 92Y Tribeca, ticket info here. Follow me after the jump to hear some words from Peter Rosenberg himself describing the event he calls "a Hip-Hop version of Inside the Actor's Studio."
What is Noisemakers?
NoiseMakers is a live talk show for the hip hop generation at 92YTribeca. Basically I sit down with some of the people who are most significant to the hip hop community and have an in depth chat with them about their lives, contributions and what they think about what's going on. But it's also a lot more than that. At each NoiseMakers we have our band do a live musical tribute to our guest. I joke around. I take questions from the audience. Basically think of if your favorite late night talk show was a lot more in depth, and a lot more focused on what real hip hop fans are interested in and care about.
Who have you had so far?
So far, we have had one NoiseMakers and the guest was DJ Premier. The band played all the classic Primo joints throughout the night. I talked to Primo about his life and work and he told me stories that a lot of people had never heard before–everything from how it was growing up in Texas in the 80s to how he found the "Nas is Like" sample, to stories about Biggie. It was crazy. Basically we sat around, listened to music, I asked questions and the audience and I listened, feeling privileged to hear this type of stuff from a living legend.
Where did this concept come from?
I have always wanted a late night hip hop themed talk show and until that happens, I thought this would be a great project to take on. When I told ?uest about it, he said it was like a hip hop "Inside the Actor's Studio," and it basically is. I always liked that show and thought that a version of "Inside the Actor's Studio" by and for hip hop fans would be something that I would really enjoy doing, and that hopefully people would really enjoy attending.

glad to see this.
