While we anxiously await the October release of The Roots new album, How I Got Over, news has been released of another project with The Roots that I'll be anxious to hear. Via an interview with Bossip, John Legend revealed that he has been working with ?uestlove on putting out a collabo album of sorts. John says the original plan was to release the project last year during the election, but scheduling conflicts stopped them from getting it done on time. He describes the project as: "... an album of protest songs, political inspiration and social uplift." The songs will all be covers from the sixties and seventies from the civil rights and black power movements. They hope to finish the project by the end of the summer and put it out by early next year. As soon as there's some music ready to be released off of this, please believe OKP will be posting it.

too bad, the timing coulda been perfect with the election... still sounds interesting tho. I'm expecting this to be an education as much as entertainment - can't wait to see the tracklist.
