The latest controversy surrounding Lupe Fiasco to erupt on the the OKP boards comes after tracks from the British indie band, Japanese Cartoon, surfaced to the net. The boards have been going back and forth as to whether or not Lupe is the front man of this band, to which he has ties. The people think the lead singer "Percival Fats" is Lupe, while Lupe claims he is merely involved with production for the group as well and financing them. Says Lu "I like those kids a lot...Met the bass player overseas last year and their publicist/manager is a good friend from like childhood. May sign them. Not me singing though." Hmm, you be the judge. He also takes the opportunity to diatribe on the state of hip-hop stating:
"I feel like hip-hop is coming to sort of a..i dare say…an end???…(no pun intended). It's not the same energy…hasn't been for a long time…just a bunch of nothing out there…take it how u may…I hope the new vanguard proves me wrong and brings back the day of substance minus the webcam video to announce its return....so many "what the fuck?!?!" moments have piled up so incredibly over the last few years that it begs a rethink of the trajectory of the art form."

Yeah i feel Lu...the only reason i have a little boost is because of him, little brother, blu, and tanya morgan..oh yeah jay electronica. i wish for the day that i see tanya morgan and little brother at the grammys chillin while blu and jay electronica accept and award...then at the end of the night Tanya morgan and Little brother do a posse cut. man that would be dope. i know lupe going to get a lot of flax behind this but yo as fan we need to put people on to who we listen to as hip hop heads. like the boy Median from NC his album was crazy dope man. i mean dope! lupe you kind of have a nice hand on changing things. look kanye is doing it. jay done it with the roots (i feel)., but we rather keep the next best thing for hip hop to ourselves(tanya morgan, Blu, Jay elect, wale, pac div) man shit we can also play our part too. im 16 man and i got my school on lock with the music man. i single handedly put my class on to Little brother and the rest i said. and if the artist has and album they brought it...so u angry fucks can do the same.

why do these rappers keep talking about hip hop lacking energy-bunch of nothing bull shit when they're output exists as part of the music and culture itself. isn't that just self hate? if you're not happy with it then do something about it and don't run away from it... obviously lupe has done a lot for asking questions of the artform, but i'd rather he didn't stand back like that an pretend to be bigger than the whole
