DXA – Progression

This isn't something new, but it's something dope. The homie Jonathan put me on to a group by the name of DXA reppin' NYC. In August '08 they put out an album entitled Progression, that I had yet to hear until last night. This album is laced with that '90s NY boom bap sound that we all lament the absence of in today's rap music. If you're not already up on these dudes, check out a few tracks below, and learn more at Kevin's spot.

I’ve been a fan of this group since 2005. The shows are always great and Progrssion is in heavy rotation on my iPod… Good to see them getting recognition… Dope beats and dope lyrics always!!!!

I love this group. Big ups to their producer and DJ, Ice Rocks, aka Chuckie. I’ve been repping them since their first, self titled album came out in 2005.

This DXA – Progression is the JUMP. Been rockin’ it for a few now.

That 90′s feel. I miss those days. Early/mid 90′s feel. It’s like I woke up and clones that blast the same Auto Tune, 808 melody took over! Music is in trouble right now! This album is refreshing to listen to, in a world of tight jeans, neon sneaks, phones with Internet capability and iRobot non-creative artist..

I’ve been DXArmy for years since the day I met Calamity on the UWS. These guys exactly what the NYC/global creative scene (music, hip hop & beyond) needs. You’d have to chill with them to realize how authentic they are as individuals, partners, and friends. Whether they’re tagging walls or writing pages, their productions come from the heart. You can’t fake what they have going on, because it’s 100% organic self-expression, grown in the LES of Manhattan. The depth of their lyrical content and the timelessness of their sound (love the saxophones) immediately let me know that I’d found some real cultural engineers/designers. I’ve never seen anyone rock the Knitting Factory like DXA. It feels great to know that they’re finally getting some of the props they deserve and that other ART/CULTURE connoisseurs are listening to them as much as myself.

DXA is awesome!!! Their Album progression is one of the best Hip Hop albums i’ve heard in a long time. They bring it back to the old school 90′s style with their own twist which makes it a fresh new sound everybody has got to hear. Their live performances are even better! They put on a great show and really get the crowd live and into their music. Cop their album, go see them! It’s worth it.

I go so far back with DXA my mom has to tell me how I know them. They come correct on every track, and there is no group out there living what they speak like these guys are. Dope lyrics, hot beats, real hip hop.

Listening to these tracks has an effect and gives a feeling that really isn’t seen or felt in music these days, especially hip hop. That said, it was a pleasure to hear this group and their music and definitely look towards seeing future projects from DXA. Good stuff.

Watch for the EP on wax feat. Rhythm Monster, Llingo Apt, DRUMAT!C (on the cuts) and more… Dirty Lingo project coming soon… KDP/DRUMZ.1
