DJ Parler: SAMPLOLOGY-The Isaac Hayes Chapter
Posted by dantana on Aug 15, 2008
DJ Parler [par-lay] presents SAMPLOLOGY-The Isaac Hayes Chapter. The SAMPLOLOGY mixtape series is a compilation of music & the original songs that inspired them. The projects are designed to connect the dots between your favorite Hip Hop/R&B tracks and the classic hard-to-find gems where each chapter highlights a select artist, producer or genre. Chapters include: J Dilla, Kanye West, American Gangster, and now the late Isaac Hayes. A few words from DJ Parler, the track listing, and download link after the jump.
"This is an impromptu chapter for the SAMPLOLOGY Series, if there's anyone that deserves to have one created it would be Mr. Isaac Hayes. His countless contributions to music & film helped lay the groundwork for Hip Hop, R&B, Disco, Funk & more." - DJ Parler

This mix is hot. I'm pretty familiar with a lot of Isaac Hayes's music but there were songs on here I have never heard. I was also surprised at the selections because DJ Parler didn't just use the most recognizable rap songs that used those Isaac samples. Very East Coast oriented. Great listen.

Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't know how many people sample Issac Hayes!!!
Issac Hayes is a nasty composer! All those instruments going on and the change overs. You can't do everything with Pro-Tools.
Musicians of our generation need to step it up!
I am going to cope his greatest hits. Issace Hayes will be surely missed!

Another great addition to the Samplology collection. When is DJ Parler going to make his way to H-town for a show? Please keep bringing great hip hop back to the masses! HOLLA!

Where's the MF Doom? He has some of the best uses of Isaac Hayes samples. Also that I got this sick Next Universe (Remix) by Mos Def which samples Bumpy's Lament. Nice list otherwise...
