Black Thought "The Professional" + EXPLICIT ILLS on Showtime
Posted by dantana on Nov 13, 2009

A lot of people ask us about a Black Thought solo album. Well, this isn't from that. This track, which I titled "The Professional," was recorded in the first half of the decade (roughly 2004) and, I believe, was produced by Philly's Kaos. It was the opening joint on a mixtape called "The Antidote" that never really made it past getting handed out to friends and around The Studio. The tape embodied the street style of various Roots crew and affiliates. Listen as Black Thought, the ghost in the machine, rips this three minute verse (no chorus) with a level of technicality and thrill which only he poses.

A beautiful creator of eternally divine CLASSIC[al] hip-hop music innovations orchestrationally and astronomically artistically.
The Roots are equivalent to Wu Tang Clan, N.W.A, Flipmode Squad or Rocafella.
so good, that it lasts forever, retrospectively, and Black Thought has lyrics that will teach all LIFE art styles of live band entertainment vibrations.
he should do a song with Nas, RZA, Busta Rhymes, Ice Cube, and DOOM Common and CL Smooth. imagine the magic

KD - I don't think Thought has had a beef because the MC has to be ill to start something with Thought. Rappers ain't stupid; Thought would eat that dude up and if it got to the real side remember...Black is from South Phil and he does believe in the 2nd Amendment.

Black is too ill and I bet there are so called "rap fans" that just think he is a late night TV band leader. He should put out a mixtape under a fake name, disquising his voice and see how the people react....Yo Truck...when the Jam Boys droppin? I am still banging The Antidote (Dice) and Truck Jewels, but I need something new to bang out of my stock Nissan Versa speakers, ya mean?!

But he just proved he can make an album like this. THOUGHT ... I was beginning to disregard you a little... Thanks for CLARIFYING your shit!

My fav on the Mic hands down, but he is recycling rhymes in this verse. Maybe I am just selfish but I always want to hear some new shit
"because fam, you know they finna lift the semi-automatic ban
they finna have em in the ghetto goin at it man"
That and the next couple lines are from a track he did on a joint with the X-ecutioners with Ghostface Killah and Trife. Shit and he throws down the 357 magnificent in both.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISm1yvI6Ark
Man I know its a mixtape but dude is the illest I wanna hear him coming fresh every sentence.

Underrated is an understatement. Overlooked except by true heads. Yes, he's low key, but in my eye that just means he's concentrating on music and not swagger. That's how it should be. Right on to the real and death to the fakers.

Adown I feel you Black is up there but he has always lacked the charisma that the elite MC's have. Song for Song he's on that level but he seems like such a low key cat that he doesn't put himself out there like a Jay, Nas, or KRS would.
Also through no fault of his own he didn't have a highly publicized beef. Not saying he has to resort to 50's tactics but the best in my opinion all have showed there best on the battle tip. Not saying he can't battle just saying that he's so low key no one even thinks of coming at him...

Iam a pure hip hop fan...give respect when respect is due, and I always loved Black Thought but he never cracked my top 5 of all time but the more I listen to him and look back at the Roots catalog....He is without a doubt top 5... Im gonna even say in his own way he is on the same level as Nas, Jay, Big, and Pac.....he just does that shit behind the scenes...and the true hip hop fans that seek true hip hop out wouldnt disagree with my statement.....So dope...peace
