Audio: Wale “The Meeting”

Here's a previously unreleased Wale song with an interesting back story. I'll let Elitaste explain: "So in the spring of 2007, I suggested to Wale that he create an audio manifesto of what he wanted to accomplish as an artist once he signed. DC producer Osinachi, the maestro behind 'Nike Boots' who is now part of Rodney Jerkins’ team, blessed Wale with the beat for 'The Meeting' and Wale, how do you say, 'went in.' This became the first track we played in label meetings and for a time, it was discussed that this would be the intro for Attention Deficit. In retrospect, I think Wale stayed true to the goals set forth in 'The Meeting' and you can still hear the hunger in his voice. So 2.5 years later, this track is emancipated." Attention Deficit is in stores now.

I have been EXTREMELY critical of Wale; in fact, I’ve blasted every one his songs, that have been posted here. With that said, I’m really feeling this track. Lyrics are on point and the beat is working. Nice…real nice

Attention Deficit is a good joint to listen to with your girl in the ride. It has some good R&B cameos and just enough hip hop to remain respectable. Overall it’s not wack and his style is more Def Poetry Jam than Def Jam. He does have a lot of different subject matter on there and when he wants to go in he can but it’s just not my type of music. As far as this joint it’s better than a lot of whats on there.
