I feel like we've been waiting forever on this one. Aside from previews during their Rock The Bells set and hearing snippets in their EPK, we hadn't heard much of anything from the upcoming Nas and Damian Marley collabo album, Distant Relatives. Today we finally get what is said to be the first single off the LP, "Strong Will Continue." Distant Relatives will be out on April 20th (so that makes 2 things I'll be doing that day), and it's shaping up to be well worth all the delays. UPDATE: Apparently the version we posted a few weeks ago was unfinished. Check out this final version with an extra Nas verse. He's really airing out some personal ish, it fits with the theme though, and only enhances the song if you ask me.
Nas & Damian Marley "Strong Will Continue"

i want to like this so much, but this is even more mediocre than that album cover.
at first impression: cosign what eazy said. i feel this song needs to be at a higher tempo. it feels a bit…slow.
but: i will blast this and listen to it for a few days before i make any judgements on it. that’s how i found some of the best tracks in albums past, so there’s no reason to think this might not be different.
I agree with eazy & leonardo. I have a grim out look for this one. My reggae tastes aren’t too broad. I’m a hip hop cat so most of the reggae I really enjoy is primarily becuase of the beat. Very ignorant to the genre as a whole. For this to work for me I just need better production the message is there but I need more in the production.
This has such a crazy good vibe to it. That breakdown is sick.
i expected much more now i know for sure nas ain’t better than ELZHI right now because his bars sound so basic
This is dope… i don’t know what you guys r talking about… maybe you need to put the volume up and turn the radio down… Nas never fails… Waitin for this to drop
i have no issue with reggae.
just lyrically, this track is a super generic “inspirational/message” track without really saying anything in particular.
and the beat is also very generic “inspirational” sort of sound.
i did really like that outro verse from Nas…
but yeah i’m not saying it’s wack, but it’s definitely mediocre.
not great..but not bad..just eh…they really set the bar real high with “road to zion”…this song is just kinda boring….i love nas, but the man needs better beats…lyrics are always strong but too much mediocre production
i have to agree to whoever said they set the bar high with road to zion. this is aight, but it aint a masterpiece
ah nvm, it grew on me.
Suddenly I feel like punching a steak, dragging a log up a mountain, and then running up a long flight of stairs so I can throw my arms in the air at the top.
I can understand some of you not really feeling this…
But I heard this shit live at Rock The Bells and it was fucking epic… I knew exactly what song this was when I started playing it, the Nas and Damian performances at RTB were unreal this song especially.
I have faith in this album.
Lyrically this is kinda generic, I have to agree with eazy, especially on Damian Marley’s end. Nas is the greatest despite his bad choices in production, I’ll check record this out, but I’m not really feeling this track.
This shit is solid….its the first fucking single, people need to relax and not trash the album already…
no-one said anything about the album. theres no doubt its good, its just not King
this song is guaranteed to be in the credits of some movie.
garbage shit
get the hell out of here this shit is hot!
totally agree with eazy. it’s a pity because they’re both beasts in their own right.
stupid idiots…4/2o is to celebrate hitler’s birthday….so go smoke in the name of hitler!
It’s alight but i love both artist and the ablum should produce something good, so give them a chance. Nas is going to kill it lyrical anyway.
FUCK ALL THE HATERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Damn clowns are still stuck on illmatic…Dudes still dont get what Nas is about or even what music is about…
Its not always about being lyrical.
And with Nas, you don t need crazy beats. Hes the main weapon the voice. Listen to the man speak…
Being lyrical on this track wouldnt make sense. This is not 94, grow up get in tune or step off…
Corny Stans,,,
This shit is dope. pure fire on some positive good shit…
waiting on the complete project. like this though. why do i see the rocky movies when i hear this?
I seen them perform it at Rock the Bells… I don’t know what happen to Nas though… I saw hiim in concert and thought he was pretty corny and flashy – instead of focusing on being an MC he focuses a lot on being flashy.
NAS kills this shit!!! always dropping gems. We all should appreciate the fact that this dude keeps making music and spitting these real ass bars over ANY type of beat. This song is powerful. Marley brings a nice vibe to this shit too
i did a couple Nas Remixes…swing by and check’em

This song is Alright. Go to youtube and look up “as we enter” and realize this album is going to have some bangers for the ages.
I want to see where this goes.
I’m not sure what either of them were thinking when they did this. Honestly w/o hating being involved I hate it. I was hoping it would be good.
word to my man the zul!
get your ears off the radio dial.
its 2010…keep that program shit for the dj’s who cant play what they want to.
at the end of the day music is music, but yo this is crazy tuff…
ya’ll dnt know and ya’ll aint ready…..
QUEENS!
All are entitled to their opinions, even if misconcieved or misconstrued. This is a tribute album exploring the almagam of the African diaspora. The music informs, inspires, saddens hearts and reassures. An aim was to create a complexity of images and drop gems while combining the styles of these two amazing artists. If you don’t feel it, don’t support it. Keep smoking the crack pop music. There is variety enough for Bedrockin’, Money Blowing, Baby By Me Making, disposable music.
Just try to give a track a few runs and sit with it before imposing a judgement.
I feel sorry for my black people we are a lost race unaware of the greatness we once possess as Africans from Egypt to mali. We as AA love wack music (drake) and shit on good music. Black people are worst than ever before and even worst is we have more successful blacks ( if you view moving in the white community successful. We know nothing about Africa OR its rich history. I love this song it uplifing. Please Black people WAKE THE FUCK UP!!! WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF TIME ( HAITI) !!!!! AND PLEASE GET OFF JESUS DICK OUR MAJOR DOWN FALL!!!
REAL ISHT CANT WAIT –

I listened to it three times.
It has a strong militant sound to it. Interestingly, Damian’s voice sounds auto-tuneish, but I know that’s his actual voice. I like the production, Nas is sharp as usual. I like the uplifting theme. There isn’t anything that I dislike on this track. Anxious to check it out.
dope. love how he finishes it.
If this is a sign of things to come, this album will be a CLASSIC! Yeah, haterz need to fall all the way back off of this one…what the f*ck y’all want?
I agree with most for Nas and Marley this is pretty blah. The bar was dropped way low not sure whats up with Nas he doesnt seem to luv the music and the culture of hip hop anymore just anger and political no more heart and fun he used to have in it..On a 1-10 scale its a 4
nas switched the script, im not sayin its not a good thing im just sayin i don’t like it, the shits whack.
just hearing it for the first time, powerful, powerful, powerful track. marley killed it and nas is and has been the G.O.A.T. for some time now, brillant song, not for ignorant minds though.
hardest joint out now. Ignorant minds should not subscribe, eazy your an idiot for that comment.
whoever doesn’t like this song has let themselves get too consumed by weak ass consumerist faggots. “shit hop” – eazy you prolly be feelin that shirtless faggot lil wayne right? he’s a toy. this shit is rap. open your mind up to some real music
Only the strong will like this. ; )
Nas’s final verse on this seems off topic/out of context… even tho its dope
ESQO LETS GO!!!!!!!!
I think the lyrical content of this album is going to be the basis of this album’s critical success. But, I’d expect nothing less than that from these two. Now, if the production is as good as the lyrics then this could shape up to be a decent album. I think I’m gonna pick it up because, one, NaS is one of my favorite emcees and, two, I’m curious to see how this collaboration is going to turn out. Peace.
