Guess Who's back with a brand new single, Black Dante himself. The ball is finally rollin' with his upcoming album The Ecstatic. This song, "Life in Marvelous Times," is the first official release from the album. A snippet appeared on his myspace page earlier in the week, now we have the fulls tream of the song (available for download 11/4). Good to see Mighty Mos is still in top form.

Can’t wait for The Ecstatic to drop. Gonna have to buy two copies like I did with True Magic just to show love and support to Mighty Mos.
Mooooooooo Fiyaaaa
Feelin this track – very sonically dramatic.
Mos always delivers hot lyrics and flows (that’s a given).
He is way much deeper than your average “bling era” rappers, always has some content to his lyrics.
Straight up fire.
come on Mos i need that black on both sides! True magic was pretty weak to me, his heart clearly wasn’t in it. This is a nice start but i don’t hear the hunger yet. What ever happened to a blackstar follow up?
been waiting years for new mos material, and its finally here. christmas came early
Yo I’m sayin’…mos STAYS nice wit it, I ain’t hatin at ALL…BUT! Where’s that Black on Both Sides fire? I’m not saying make the same album you did back in ’00, but still…there’s definitely been something missing from Mos since then, right? I’ma still cop it ’cause it’s dude, but still…
song is ill! i hope he actually puts this cd together like a hip hop album
I always thought Mos was better than Jay-Z—–
who produced this? sounds like Mr. Flash from Ed banger
“True magic was pretty weak to me, his heart clearly wasn’t in it.” It doesn’t sound like you actually listened to the album. Some of the most honest, emotional music he ever did is on that album. By the way this track is great.
o shit! downtown records!
Mighty Mos is back and killin it. Those hating on True Magic are bout as dumb as the people hating on Common’s Electric Circus. Ya’ll ain’t listening to the albums!! Listen to True Magic. THERE IS A WAAAAAAAAAY AY AY AY NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY AY AY OOOOO OOOOOO!!! -PURE GENIUS

This is hot! What do you mean something is missing? Just wait and see with the album.
yo True magic was good but mos def needs better production. some rappers need producers. at one time mos was considered the hip hop jay z. Alot of times mos chooses to go his own way with his beats. Black on both sides was so tightly produced it was a major classic. The most beautiful boogey man was also good on the other album. I guess what people are saying is that mos def has the potential to be the savior of hip hop sort of like the male version of lauryn hill when he is on his ishhh. that is why people say that about true magic because black on both sides gave that universal feel where you can be hard and gangsta, soft and r and b or hip hop and still know that the songs are undeniable. well thats my take
If your looking for lyrics check myspace.com/pressuretank
do your thang mos do your thang we need you!!!
“Even When It’s Free. It Ain’t Cheap!!!”
Mos ain’t never lied!!
i really cant get into overly triumphant beats. it kills the emcee
better production? come on yo, mos is not concerned with being nobody’s savior, he’s KILLING it with this new shit and I’m behind him 100% in this life in marvelous times…can’t nobody touch black dante.

well production is what makes a album. it is the key to making songs gel together. Mos def once again is one of the best mc’s. The whole key is to give all that you have in an effort to affect (change) the world. with great power comes great responsibility. If you have the talent to do great things it is your duty to do it. dont just do what you want do it to the max!!!
this beat IS too much drama
The shit is ok. I like Mos just as much as the next man but ya’ll niggas that post all day on Okayplayer are some dickriders sometimes. This beat is a fucking headache. If you heard Madlib or Dilla produced this trash beat you would all be on his nutts. Stop being so bias grow some balls and opinions just because somebody doesn’t agree with you doesn’t mean you are Hip Hops’ supreme master #1. Fuck outta here. Mos is dope the beat sucks.
Love Mos… Hate the beat… He needs that Ms. Fat Booty beat! It reminds me of his last album “Tru Magic” the beats were wack on most of the record. Gotta step that up!
Even though I’m not always feeling it, I respect the effort to do something different, and I usually find after a few listens tracks like this grow on me. These people complaining about it not being as good as Black on Both Sides probably complained about Black on Both Sides when it came out because it wasn’t enough like Blackstar. It’s the same people who want every Kweli album to sound like Train of Thought, but when Train of Thought was out they all said it wasn’t as good as Blackstar. The same people who complained that every Tribe album was worse than the last and that every PE album was worse than the last. People are too damn predictable. The funny thing is, these people who complain about his shit not sounding enough like Black on Both Sides anymore would be doing just as much complaining if his shit sounded too much like Black on Both Sides. I’m glad Mos goes down his own creative path. I’d rather have an artist willing to experiment because when someone like Mos tries different things he’s going to end up creating something brilliant.
There was nothing weak about TRU MAGIC… what were ya’ll listening too?!
mos killed this…. his new album is gonna be hard….. dont hate on him ffor pickin this beat… 1. i doubt all the songs will have beats like this 2. the beat is still hard
this is the shit! who talkin about triumphant beats beating the mc.. are u listening to what he’s saying?! he kills this beat and it sounds MARVELOUS!
This shit is what ive been waiting for from Mos for a minute. Cot Damn it go’s hard! Big up Mos!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mos dominated the track.
Nothing special… I’ve heard much better stuff from Def! for real!
No disrespect to ill prophet but please don’t compare true magic to electric circus. electric circus was classic.r true magic was garbage, terrible production, and uninspired music from mos. I tried my hardest to get into True magic but how many times should i have to listen to something before it start’s to sound good? I am a big Mos fan but after black on both sides hi Mos s focus was clearly movies. This beat is sick and once again mos sounds lazy on the flow. your too talented please step your game back up. Anyone who disagrees please go back and listen to how he used to beast the mic compared to this watered down version of his former self.
i suppose this could be worse, but it’s still a big disappointment.
What do you ppl want from Mos? Another Black on Both Sides? Another Blackstar LP? Another Universal Magnetic? Let the man do something different. This is alright so far…
This beat makes me anxious. Hard to breathe cuz’ the track is taking away all the air around me…
All Mos needs is good beats. Reason why BOBS is a classic is cuz’ the beats were redic. True magic had its moments but it was a supreme disappointment imo.
Fantastic emcee.. just give the man some beats. Rakim syndrome forreal.
definitely looking forward to Mighty Mos new project
Mos keep doing your thang. but do not forget the fire and passion when rapping. that is very important fire and passion. that is how you cook up something good. fire and passion!

PEACE TO YOU & YOURS.
This is ok nothing special Electric Circus was one of the best hip hop records ever made like a hip hop St Pepper the most musical and best hip hop album musically of all time
Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh My God!!!
I’m just glad he took a break from movies to feed the people. But this def. won’t fill my stomach.
He needs to steer from Hollywoods influence, and the whole black jack band theatrics, and just go bare bone and raw…what ever happened to some conscious shit with just dope beats, are u telling me u cant find a good beat out there? This song is probably, well, ahem as far as this beat it eclipses whatever he had on true magic, but whats up with 9th wonder??? I heard mos on like 2 9th wonder tracks and they sounded amazing, sounded like black on both sides for real for real…I also heard a not tooo old track with mos and geology..Whats goin on with u mos???? I know u love music brotha, and u have good taste, so why are u running to these reason/fruity loop beats? What happened to 88 keys, shawn J? Hi Tek? 9TH WONDER!?!? WTF? Forget whatever u did on Kanyes Graduation, and come back to some good heart felt music, fuck hollywood..when the shit hits the fan, peoples will always respect u, for good heart felt music…You should hook up with Little Brother or even Nicolay..The time is now to flip it back to some luvly ish..Black On Both Sides, Black Star, Medina Green…forever…
MOS DEF IS STILL MOSt DEFinitely the most mighty lyrical monster… bk stand up
I thank the Lord for bringing Mighty Mos to hip hop…
It’s conceptually and lyrically awesome but I think it’s missing something as a whole. I dunno, I guess I am just expect something amazing, like at the “Respiration” or “New World Water” level of amazing. Sometimes, less is truly more.
It would be great if he hooked up with Jay-Electronica, Madlib or Flying Lotus for the boards.
Mos needs to get with madlib, or ninth wonder.
lyrics is killer tho’, a simpler flow, but thats good when you wanna drive a point home. looking forward to a remix, maybe by jazzanova – that would kick ass.
This joint is ahight, a treat for those who crave new music from Mos. But lets remember’BOBS’ was made nine years ago, this aint ’99 yall we can’t go back. Mos done did multiple movies, hosted tv shows, traveled the world, did commercials, got married, got divored, got sued for child support, had his name ran through the mud, and he’s still manages to step in the both and bless yall with new gems… That being said, I think another’BOBS’ might be outta the question.
this is a great song.
ahem, ahem,…please make another BlackStar album, please, ahem, ahem
I dig it, and love how everyone can gauge how the whole thing’ll be on one song.
So far I’m excited.
what is all the hate for true magic. there were some solid tracks on that album. it wasnt the best but there was some fire on there
something tells me that this ain’t even near the best song on the lp. the ecstatic is a sure buy if you ask me. me digs mos def. even new danger was a killer album, ha!
YEAAAAHHH MOS!! Looking forward to the cd….
Love Mos as a emcee no doubt, just like to hear him on some deep rooted, diggin in the crates, fleshed out, type beats…9th wonder?nicolay?krysis?flying lotus?karriem riggins? madlib? Thats all u would need…dayumm..Is it just me or does this beat sound like a jerry bruckheimer/michael bay movie soundtrack beat? hehehe
post the lyrics up here. Is he saying anything? Serious. blablabla… kinda not too sure what the hell hes spewing about. the beat is on point… the lyrics arent very diligently wrought… technically yes… content wise… its all over the place basically SAYING NOTHING! sorry mos… one of your oldest fans … but what the fuck are you saying on this?
Damn this is a sick track, looks like his bringing some real intensity great lyrics, great beat. Im ecstatic
Nice joint, but sometimes I miss Mos Def’s more fluent style of the past.
Like this track. Mos keeping good words going.
This is way too nys. Classical mos rhyming…yeah!
Heard Jay Force blend this on 89.3 wrfg (atlanta) for 10 min last Fri. Hard track man. Hard
ooooooh weeee! This track got some grime on it right? I can’t wait… Caint nobody sing vowels like Mighty Mos…lol
this track still dominates anything out right now…
if you can’t understand the words and the wordplay, then get with the times.
