Audio: Mos Def “History (prod. J Dilla)” feat. Talib Kweli

Photo: Mel D. Cole

Looks like Mos Def's new album, The Ecstatic, caught that drip drop. I guess that's not too bad considering it drops in 6 days (June 9th!!). No more delays, this album is really almost here. Here is the latest track the internets have chosen to leak, "History," produced by J Dilla and featuring Talib Kweli. Yes, we've heard this Jay Dee beat before, but are you really going to complain about a new Black Star track over some Dilla production? Didn't think so. The Ecstatic will be in stores next Tuesday via Downtown Records. Check after the jump for Terrence Jennings' photos from the Black Star show last weekend.

mos n kweli, the 2 best lyricists..
    together again, oh hell yeh!!

  24. avatar Grrr

OMG. Mos murders it @ the second verse! Both emcees rocked it but I’m still yearning for that Blackstar back n’ forth steez. Beat was nice if not a little dated.

  25. avatar Tha Architect

I know this beat. Funny. I thought Wajeed from PPP produced it because he had it on his page a few years ago. Now I’m wondering why he had it on his page?? Hmmmmm….

  26. avatar profesone(dot)com

It’s a damn shame that true mcees get shadowed by commercial fuck like Young (fill in the blank) or stupid A&Rs and record companies who don’t want to front cash for radio spots for (mentally interesting) music.

My best friend was in Wal-mart where the guy who is charge of stocking the music shelves didn’t know Mos Def’s album was even coming out more or less coming out that day!

It’s bullshit! I promise yall, I’ll buy yall shit where ever they sell it. Promise!

    Classic Black Star…

  29. avatar AntonioCortez

    Thank you…bout time…that was Blackstar!

  30. avatar SUPREMEnonGrata

It’s a cryin’ shame that REAL Emcees don’t get the airplay that they deserve. Record companies hopped on the Hip-Hop bandwagon back in the day when it was fresh, now it’s just a “what have you done for me lately” type of bullshit. Long live hip-hop baby!
