One of the many emcees out of the Chi with something to say is Mikkey Halsted. I've been meaning to post something from the kid for a little while now, so this video would be a good introduction if you're not already familiar. Although it's a little late, here is the video for Mikkey Halsted's "Liquor Store" directed by Rico and Da Visionaryz. The images and message are pretty powerful, so watch and take heed.

Exactly what i' m talking about...I been on this track for a couple years and now he bringing it life. Dude been putting it down for a minute and he is one of the few emcees from my hometown, who spits straight truth next to Kanye, Rhymefest, Lupe, Shyce, Shawnna and the Cool Kids.
