Always one to stay at the center of creativity with his production, MeLo-X is about to release another instrumental remix EP. Instead of pulling from the past to create something new, MeLo is remixing an album that is less than a month old, namely Maxwell's BLACKsummers'night. "With this EP he ventures into Spacey time Travel as he chops up Maxwell's new album to create this head nodding rhythm driven project… taking a brand new album and sampling it to create new classic electronic, hip-hop and soul music." Okayplayer will be presenting this remix instrumental EP on July 28th. Here is the first leak "The Highest," which is sampled from Maxwell's "Bad Habits."

Cool, yet I would love to hear a more slow, sultry version as the original cut of Bad Habits, ala Mello-smooth Sumthin’ Sumthin’, you get my drift? Need more sexiness, not techno, to keep you in the “moment” -

I really do like the Mello-X remix. It’s different than what I thought it would be, but groovin’ all the same. I’m actually glad he didn’t try to smooth things out on this song. I think MAX himself can only do that. BTW @ Jpee the BET version of “Simply Beautiful” is available online I have it on my ipod. You have to go to Limewire though. Don’t worry didn’t steal “Black” bought 2 copies!
Since this is art, knowing that it isn’t for everybody I’d like to respectfully say that this isn’t very entertaining. The rhythm is nice, but the voice-overs or whatever that’s called makes it choppy and hard to groove to.

This is a bit of a trip! The chopped vocals from the chorus are a bit too staccato for me, but I kinda like the music. I’m still gonna listen to the original cut on the CD about a million more times, though!

I really loved the original version of this track. I really wanted to hear Maxwell or someone expound on/upon it and build on/upon the original opening sequence and do something like a mellowsmoothe cut. This sampling is really tight, but the cutting in on the vocals really threw me off, initially.
