I think ya’ll peeps are probably most pis’t of by her lyrics lol. But you’ve gotta give the producer some burn for this sort of hybrid beat. Though “radio-ready” sounding, it’s definitely not cook cutter; it potentially has cross generational mass appeal I’d argue.
Again, I won’t front…there’s surely a hint of “radio-readiness” up in this track. Kanye, Pharell and some of these Southern producers (lil Jon?…my guesstimation) all combined, sort of set the mainstream trend of simple beats with 80′s drum kits. I call this the “new-80′s baby” or “90′s baby” sound.
However, you’ve still go Marsha’s SOULFUL voice on a backed up with a layer of her own dubs and synths that give it a nice airy feel. It’s that 2k sorta of neo-soul feel.
If she performed this live, she’d probably KILL it.
Not bad…not her best work, but this is “do-able.”

It’s that current R&b sound of today, but that doesn’t mean it’s good…That programmed, standard beat that’s so popular today, doesn’t make it hott!! It’s “radio ready” and built for that type of situation, but I guess I’m use to what I’m use to. I love Marsha and I love her soulful voice over tight drums, piano keys, romantic strings and guitar licks! But this Pro Tooled driven/808 track is nothing more than an attempt to get some radio play. “I hope she cheat on you with a basketball player!” I don’t even like the fact that she said “cheat” instead of “cheats” Maybe live this might go over better,
