M.I.A.'s video for "Born Free" is easily some of the best ish I've seen in awhile. Now that she got our attention, here is her lead single, "XXXO," off her upcoming untitled album (set to drop this summer). The song premiered last night on the BBC's Zane Lowe show. The accompanying Hype Williams directed video for the track is on the way.

Strange how she call Lady Gaga an 80′s throwback then drop some 90′s pop lol. I’m not trippin tho cuz I like this AND Lady Gaga. *shrugs*

@ Gshyt, This is a remixed version. Check out there original here http://neetrecordings.com/blog/ .. if that doesn’t work just check itunes. The original is WAY more like the M.I.A. you’re used to.

MIA is a brilliant artist, mainly for her ability to write political/protest songs in a way that is disguised as common pop music.

unless this song is somehow an allegory for something more important than your average pop breakup tune, then i just dont understand what happened here.. the beat is cool, but this just doesnt fit with the stuff in MIA’s catalog that really define her as an artist.

    the original version knocks.

I dig the track. I related it to the paradox within feminine sexuality. I understood it to depict an instance when a male is with a chick because of her strong sexuality but is oblivious to the fact that its not all that she is. Hence the excess symbolized in XXXO. Whether a women is fully embodied in her sexuality or sees it as a small piece of all that she is. She can be misunderstood and objectified regardless and that’s hardly empowering.

im pretty surprised by this…sounds too mainstream for her

    I have a band.
And we sound way better than this.
Messages are easy, whether you deliver a message shouldn’t be an excuse for your music sucking.

Look out for the The Griots.

  • Grrr

Ugh. The “Born Free” video creates cheap heat. This song is alright and I’m sure it will bang live, which is when her music is at its best.

Lots of interesting points on this thread. Good job, folks.

  • Sancteefide

The original is WAY better. This sounds like some bootleg Britney Spears crap.

The business loans seem to be important for guys, which are willing to organize their own company. In fact, it is very easy to get a bank loan.
