I agree, you cannot just pull Jimi out like that to try and catch some attention. Bad move when the lyrics just aren’t that great. I understand he tries to use a lot of complex metaphors and whatnot, but that doesn’t make for good songs unless you’re Bob Dylan. It takes even more intelligence to write about complex ideas and emotions in simple terms. Lupe thinks that people should just ‘smarten up’ instead of him getting more creative and writing better. He assumes everyone is dumb for not thinking in exactly the same way he does, but no one thinks exactly alike and that’s why the genius of song writing is the ability to relate to everyone.. not just yourself. Write a book if you want to force people to decifer what you’re saying, not songs.
seems like Lupe’s doing a Mos Def with the rock samples. i dunno if that good or not but i normally don’t judge anything till the album drops.

I don’t know what the problem is. This song is nice. Probably one of the nicest songs I’ve heard from Lupe in a while, and I am a big Lupe fan. The sample is a little raw and yes could have been flipped a lot better. But the song fits its purpose. Take music for what it is. Song by song. This song is dope.
