Audio: Lauryn Hill “Repercussions”

Looks like we don't have to wait 'til August to hear something new from L-Boogie. We're not sure when this was recorded, but here's a song from Lauryn Hill, "Repercussions," that just hit the net over the weekend (it's new to our ears, so we'll call it new). Regardless of when this was made, it sounds good to me – lets hope there's more to come. Make sure to check out Ms. Hill at a city near you for this summer's Rock The Bells.

It’s a’ight. I’d buy her album on the spot (just like D’Angelo’s), but the expectations of her at this point are unrealistic. There are so many more hard-working artists out there that deserve our support (and cash).
Judging the comments made about her more recent live shows, she clearly is past her prime, voice-wise. Too bad…

How about those who never had a prime “voice-wise” like Trey Songz, and Rihanna. Since when did folks start caring about the voice? Only when you can attack nothing else, (Like content, originality, style, poise, timing, skillz, class, artistic integrity) Plus she could still beat the breaks off of any female emcee “voice wise”. You hear me any one of them! And definitely most of these weak male emcees. Voice-Wise? Sammy where’s your soul brother? I don’t know.

Ms Hill is musical royalty. She is on another level moving with the Marley’s. Her music will never be what it used to be. It will be on a more spiritual, conscience level. She could sing the Alphabet song and it would be FLY !

This is a step in the right direction. It’s definitely not wack and that is the mark of great artist. Very few don’t come with something wack especially when it comes to singing D’Angelo, Bilal, Musiq, and etc). She’s a sure shot at this point. If and when she drops something new u gotta have it…. It’s like Dr. Dre making Detox. Be mad all you want but Chronic & Chronic 2001 were flawless efforts…

Mel Blunt actually wrote “since when did folks start caring about the voice”….????????? And to fippantly boast that some of today’s biggest stars never had a prime voice-wise????? We’re just wallowing in mediocrity and loving it aren’t we.
