Let the controversy begin once again, the full length (FINAL) version of Kanye's next single, "Heartless," is here. Kanye is singing with the aid of autotune once again on this track and according to the reviews from his LA listening session, this is the trend throughout the album. This song is cool with me though, and the autotune doesn't sound forced like it did to me on "Love Lockdown." "Heartless" uses 808's and is about heartbreak… go figure. The much talked about album is out November 25th. I think this is an awesome song, granted its not what were use to from kanye but the article even says:

I think this and love lockdown are pretty cool some people think the autotune is stupid and annoying i think its pretty cool, nobody’s really used that style in a long time so i think its a wickedly artistic direction and im all for it.

First, I want to say that it’s very catchy, and Ye has definitely set a tone and style for this album. I can appreciate that. I love albums that all feel like one big story/song/whatever. I also can appreciate that Ye’s experimenting, more power to him.
Still, I have a hard time enjoying this track. The autotune/vocoder sounds SO much like T-Pain, and I wish Kanye knew what a bad vibe that gives off, for me at least. He really didn’t need the autotune on the verses either, I would’ve liked this better with straight rap/singing. The last thing (and this was a problem with Love Lockdown too) is that the drums really don’t back up the tone of the song. Maybe it’s just me, but I think this track could have such a better vibe if it had some kicks and hi-hats/rides.
Whatever, that’s just me, and I understand how people can like this. It’s simple, catchy, and Kanye. Still though, looking forward to that hip hop-centric album in 09.

I agree with bnewprod, to a certain extent about overanalyzing and not accepting artist as evolving entities. But the TRUTH of the matter is that is NOT “the shit”. Its cool that hes tryin sumthin different with sumthin thats extremely old and played out (aka 808s and claps). You mentioned 50…the very thing that makes 50 so wack is that he will never leave the POP genre cuz he knows thats the way he’ll stay popular and still sell albums. BUT NE WAYS!!…the real truth is that neither one of these songs is very ORIGINAL or FRESH, infact, its actually eXtremely predicatable and boring. Like I said before, new ideas and experiments are good in that they mean an artist is evolving, but that doesn’t necessarily make them decent works of art in their own right. I could smash a pumpkin on a white canvas, which would be “evolving” my art through experimentation, but that doesn’t make that art good. I’m not saying that 808s and Heartbreaks is a smashed pumpkin on a white canvas, but College Dropout and Late Registration both proved that Kanye can do better than this.

On this track Yeezy actually makes the use of autotune bearable.The vocals flow naturally unlike other tracks that utilize autotune. Overall, nice track. This joint will be on repeat for a good minute(as soon as I find a link to download it.)

Something about the energy he brings keeps me listening. The production and the song format aren’t very impressive but it’s an easy listen and I have a natural resonance with the key of Bb minor.
My favorite thing are the background vocals on the chorus. that’s about it. I don’t know how excitied I really am about the album but I’ll end up buying it anyway.
