  • ray mega

    wtf!!! nigga

  • nothatinijustdon’tlikeit

Let Biggie rest in peace and stop eating off the man. You can’t compare this dude to BIGGIE, or anyone for that matter. who cares if puff co-signs this dude. I’m honestly not trying to spread hate, I just feel this dude is WAY overrated. He’s cool, but overrated in my opinion, like a 7 or a 7.5

  • Gshyt

Nice lil joint to hold us over.

  • really doe…

uum. no thanks. and diddy- stop drinking and going in the booth…

  • jay921

    it’s alright

  • KD06

    @ nothatinijustdon’tlikeit: …
nobody compared big & jay elect. if you don’t feel jay that’s cool but there isn’t much new music in the game close to his. Whats better

  • musik Lova

Why is Jay hanging with this clown? Better yet, why is MOS and fam letting him hang with the fool?

  • okp_3

    diddy said yall need lotion…

  • SONNY DAZE

notice my caps DIDDY IS A LEGEND. B.I.G. MADE BAD BOY BUT WITHOUT DIDDY THERES NO SUCCESS FOR BIG. THIS SONG IS COOL. DIDDY GOING BACK TO HIS EARLY 90′S HIP HOP ROOTS. RESPECT TO THEM. I DONT CARE FOR THE TITLE OF THE SONG BIG SHOULD REST BUT ALL BIG SHOULD BE LIFTED ALL YOU SO CALLED MUSIC CRITICS NEED TO REALIZE NO PUFF NO BIG= NO JAY-Z THE WAY HE IS NO MOS DEF THE WAY HE IS. JAY ELECTRONIC IS GOING TO COME HARD AND MAKE GREAT HIP HOP MUSIC. THIS SONG IS JUST SOME MIXTAPE TYPE SHIT AND FOR THAT ITS COOL. I DONT GLORIFY DIDDY BUT HE GETS RESPECT PERIOD.

  • ray mega

Ya’ll niggas are crazy its a dope song. I mean yeah its diddy but that dude has lived, asne seen so many hip hop moments we couldnt even dream of some good and bad(some bad as fuck) but its a real dope song …nuff said

  • D. HOGG

elec jay to 1st team hip hop takeover. 4 other spots up for grabs.

  • Cp12 miami

    This is cool.

  • eazy

i’d rather not have Jay Elec name-dropped Diddy’s vodka, but nonetheless a dope track.

  • younggreybeard

take dat take dat take dat.

  • Malk

    This is knockin’ straight up!

  • stickyblui

goodness!!! this is dope!! i dont care much for diddy, BUT this track could not have been done any other way. what better way to resurrect the ghost of christopher wallace but through diddy…history lessons.

jay elec…when you going to drop the album?? we been waiting!!

  • Seriously….

Who in the fu&K thought it was a good idea to have Jay Elec drop two verses and then let Diddy talk for four fuc*ing minutes!!!! I’m super heated. That was the biggest let down of the year. Beat was ill, verses were dope, but damn! I’mma have to make my own mix of this, with a fade out about half an hour through Sean talking ish… How did this get released this way??? Seriously??? I ain’t even as mad as I’m really really confused.

  • gunner4ever

jay electronica is a true and and hard mc.very selpt on this joint is hard. what the fuck is diddy doing on this joint

  • gunner4ever

diddy messed this track up. should have put j cole on this track

  • Metronome21

Man, Jay always makes me feel better.

    Who did the beat?

  • Shaun P

I could see why cats say Jay’s over-rated. I feel he has a subtle greatness that’s not overbearing, or overt, but his skillz lay in his ability to enunciate on beat, which is no easy task. Dude is sharp.

  • *sigh*

    Dear Jay Electronica,

I’m all for lyrics but your last 3-4 songs have no hooks whatsoever. Not to mention the same references to “abracadabra” and all types of senseless references that I must pretend to my friends that I understand. I have painfully listened to your stutter-filled interviews and shows full of “hold up-hold up-hold-yo-yo-ayo-hold up-hold up!”. You are the Nas of interviews, the Dr Dre of release dates, the Drake of decision-making, and the Devin the Dude of diverse subject matter. You have been co-signed by some of the greats but you are equal to that dude who lets his car get repossessed after his mama co-signs for it. My faith is running out. brother. No more Exhibit A-Z’s… drop a fucking album.

    Sincerely Yours,
Hip Hop fans who are too scared to be honest to their new favorite rapper!!!

  • Jericho Drumm

This beat is FIRE!!! And Jay ripped it…as usual.

  • Jericho Drumm

    @ *sigh*

And you’re on point sun; but I still like this track.

  • Frank Hamblen

love this!!! i am going to play this for the team tonight before the game. Phil said it’s motivational. B.Shaw can’t get enough of it. Magic is playing it for Dr.Buss now

  • Uhurube

They not ready for this F*** a hook!!! TAKE THAT TAKE THAT

  • Main-One

Yo Sigh, go play with yourself, that was some wrong shit to say about Jay Elect.

  • GameTheory4:20

    DOPENESS

  • eazy

i find it ironic how Diddy rants on here about how rappers arent saying anything anymore… sounds like his entire post-BIG label lineup to me.

  • swiiishhh

beats clean.. verse clean…diddy wtf? stfu.

  • omidara

i must agree w/ SONNY DAZE. w/o diddy the mid to late 90′s wouldn’t have been what we all remember and love. while he may be seen as a clown now, i can’t disrespect his legacy and what he did for hip hop.

  • d-rock

    @sigh

yo man get the fuck outta here with all that bullshit. sure i agree with you about jay needing to drop an album already but to hate on that nigga for having a stutter? are you serious? get the fuck outta here with that

  • Its me m-er f-er

of course jay electronica didn’t produce this song

  • Its me m-er f-er

his flow sounds a bit like mf doom

  • YEMAN

I AM so excited to hear this track… more than i have ever been, this right here sounds like a classic moment in HIPHOP history.

    ENJOY THIS MOMENT PPL>

  • ThatDude

    WTF is Diddy talkin’ bout?

  • sstretch

Yo i’m just getting on to JAY ELECTRONICA. I listened to those EXHIBIT joints, and other few tracks, dude’s hot. He sound like a combination of NAS and MF DOOM for real lol. I mean dude’s nice, ain’t given him THE CROWN yet. Be easy people, they tried to do that with LUPE and this kid DRAKE, and look what happens. I want to hear an ALBUM from dude first. Stop crowning dudes before they drop an album

  • djrubadub

    takethat takethat….

  • djrubadub

at least diddy didn’t drop a verse.

  • James Klynn

Yo I love Jay man and I understand putting your man on a track with you but I cant stand diddy when it comes to music he’s a waste of time!! lol

  • I believe

Too much hate in here…this track is bananas. You may be able to associate Diddy with some bullshit but this ain’t it. Why ya’ll stressin about an album when he drops songs all the time? Ya’ll niggaz gonna download it anyway, then he won’t see the money, he’ll have to do a “pop” track that ya’ll will disapprove and question his heart in the game and then say it’s because he started fuckin with puff. Ya’ll pathetic and predictable!

When cats drop quality Hip Hop and “Hip Hoppers” complain about it in this day and age of this culture….”You need to check yaself Q!”

  • yezzur

: as we proceed!!!! take dat take dat bad boy uhh huh yee:

word on the streets is Jay has been doing a TON of ghostwriting for diddy…so i find the title of this track quite ironic..TAKE DAT!

Jay Elec is fire as usual. Diddy on some pet monkey lets ride the money train type ish “YO, I’M LOCKING DOWN THE STUDIO”..somebody get me a piece of cheesecake.

  • NOLALady80

New Orleans STAND UP! This beat is bananas and Jay Electronica did his thing.

  • Grrr

    A song is one song.

An album is a cohesive collection of 9 or more songs. There’s a difference. Hell, I’ll settle for an EP at this point.

He needs to drop an album. Period. Truth.

Sick sick sick track. Drop an album though.

  • DeeBeeKay

    @sigh and D-rock
i have stutter and didnt take offense to sigh so relax honesty doesnt have to be offensive. Jay is a real dude that can really drop some complex lyrical shit that doesnt seem to want to get mixed up in the business side of the music game. i respect him for that. but shit from all the drops he released i have an album hahaha and DeeBeeKay dont like diddy but respects the work to the industry and hate what he as done to the image of hip hop (from artists to flashy false billionaires)

  • the only one that matters

Okayplayer nerds w always hate….diddy is a legend in the game (regardless of what you think) he started off as a dancer for dougie fresh…nuff said. Not to mention that he was responsible for actual classics. And we are talking bout bonafide classics not the joints only 3 and your friends like. Would be nice if jay dropped a real album…even though all the critics here would probably download it for free.

  • Hiphopolitico

The ranting nonsense sucks, P Diddy needs to get out of the way, i can’t believe people are defending his “legacy.” in terms of hip hop output he is on the opposite end of the quality spectrum from Jay. P diddy doesn’t even rap on a tribute to BIG, come on!

  • jbabyhuey

really?? why is diddy talking that shit???

  • Inspired by Wackness

    *sigh*

All of you testosterone-filled OkayPlayerHaters who say Jay Electronica is overrated should’ve just kept the monologue going after that sentence. You know the sentence that goes “I mean dude AIIGHT but he’s overrated…” Because then it should’ve been followed by “…I mean me and my niggas spit deep shit too. That ain’t no plug or nuffin but I just said all of that to say its mad other nice niggas out here that spit that real. Ya’ll put mad overrated cats, like this nigga Jay Elec up there with Nas and them, who I think is overrated too but ya’ll will prolly won’t wanna hear my reasonings and shit. Matteroffact I aint gonna say no more. You gonna see when me and my niggas blow. And I don’t even really rhyme like that. I jumped on a few tracks and shit just cuz I love it. Nah mean?”

If you’ve heard all of Jay Elec’s tracks and still give him a 7 or a 5 as an emcee rating…WHY are you still checking out his shit and responding on message boards and such??? I am not a Beanie Sigel fan. So whenever he has new shit dropping…I bypass it. You should do the same. Unless you are giving concise and critical reasoning as to why Jay Electronica or Nas or Biggie or whoever is overrated no one wants to read that you think he’s overrated. Because you will always sound like a hater. Always.

  • BLaKscoTT

Why is PuFF still doin that same ish. Introducin this nicca been droppin ish for abt 5 calendars. Puff keep your mouth shut. DAMN that beat is ILLLLLLL!!!!!!

  • Critical Beatdown

I’m not really a fan of Jay but this track is ill. If he drop an album of shit like this, its a must buy.

  • Neon Don

Jay’s dope, but i just want the instrumental.

  • aaronmts

man this is my joint right now.
u guys gotta stop hatin on diddy. hes doing his hip hop thing.. u know, just like he did with big. so respect man. yeah i know diddy is overrated, but chilax is hip hop right now. i dont like diddy wen he is doing his pop shit, put wen it comes to real hip hop.. he never dissapoints.

  • se.po

    don’t know – maybe listen twice…..

  • Sublime…

Inspired by Wackness… Man you are 100% correct. Nothing else needs to be said…

  • try

naw i dont like that love jay tho

  • Aedan And The Labyrinth

Actually I like Jay Electronica’s voice and rhyme flow—-He’s definitely a good commercial rapper, as for the title of the track, not sure what it had to do with biggie at all

  • Aedan And The Labyrinth

oh and i forgot to mention, people need to learn to look at the producer credits on the tracks they grew up listening, cause alot of that whole era biggie was rapping in was produced by puff daddy.
i mean, im not going to call him diddy, cause thats too funny
but atleast he has some major talent to back up his weird style
    talking over tracks

  • DJ CROSSFADER

FUCK P Diddy he never writes anything

  • DJ CROSSFADER

jay’s voice sounds like mf doom to me

  • Chocoboy

@ Aedan: definitely not “major talent”.. diddy is, always has been, and always will be passable but obnoxious. he can do his thing, i don’t wanna hate… but i can’t ever really forgive him for jackin juicyfruit from pete rock. reeeal talk.

  • Foi

Jay is one of the nicest MC’s out if someone does not think so then they have been brainwashed by the media playing all this so called crap…oh I mean rap….not hip hop.

  • B from da QC

The track is hot, but I’ve heard better from Jay Electronica. Diddy, go sit your a$$ down somewhere! The dude is an alright producer, but when he opens his mouth and talks all over the track, he f*cks it all up!

  • Killahseazon

The beat is ill…jay’s verses are dope…diddy sounds like a clown. Take that Take that

  • Imani Lateef

diddy may be a bit goofy but this is the dude that just signed Janelle Monet. if he were to sign Jay Elect he’d actually revive Badboy with just 2 acts!!

  • ndizzle thrizzle

hmm, lots to go from on here right now, some love, a lot of hating, but, for my 2cents, Jay dropped some hot verses, the beat is fire, and for diddy…man has some legit legend status, but if you think what happened to rap in the late 90′s is that it almost killed hip hop altogether and it was because of diddy/puffy…he was big-upping himself so hard and feeding off of the death of his boy so hard that young cats trying to break onto the scene and almost ruined a few tracks from some masters, for that fact consider his work with Nas, Nas had a handful of classic tracks on not so classic albums but the tracks produced by Primo and Pete Rock are ILL “nas is like” and “Nastradamus” and the tracks by and featuring the diddster are GARBAGE “hate me now” (wtf was that ishness?) just an example…plus add the fact that even before BIG passed, he (the puff man) went from kind of humble and annoying hype man with videos shot in bed-stuy, canarsie…to ish where they were always like trying to escape the feds in G5′s and serious Yacts out to international waters (just so they could keep the party going?), the Fugees started all that “always running away from somebody” tip, but puffalicious took it to another level, over the top, and rap never came back down to a street level. it went from real stories about growing up surving/hustling, to like some king of kings tip, didn’t make sense to me at the time and still bothers me, dude kinda broke the game in a way for new cats, who, dope or not, if they were just mad talented and speaking the truth didn’t matter anymore, if you weren’t the biggest mob boss in history you didn’t have a chance, and none of it was real, it was all for the media and his pockets (what happened to Mase? he sucked, and it was obvious, he got put on one classic track and fell the F off cuz he had no cred…)
the last thing i am is a “hater” just a lover of good music and equal opportunity…in this case the song is dope, and diddy is annoying as usual! I do kind of feel like he wet out and found a talented dude who’s voice sounded the way he thinks will make a buck (like you all said like a MF Doom and Nas cross…), and spit his hypeman nonsense all over the track, why? good song, i’d buy it, but without the didster i’d buy an album, his lilttle voice just drives me crazy…how many times you think he “locked down the studio” before they got this one “right”, haha…much love to hip hop people if you’re a fan of the art, check out “Creative Juices” a new (since ’05) NYC hip hop collective, shit is real and the music is quality, some new cats, and a re-up of sorts from some older dudes you heard of back in the day…much love and respect to all, any music is better than no music, but don’t get it twisted just because MTV or BET told you it is/was so!!!

  • Old Skool South

Jay is D.O.P.E azz fuk….South stand up!!! between him and 3000, Oh My God!!

  • ZarZ

This track is no Exhibit A or Exhibit C but it def aint that bad either.
I personally think that Jay Electronica & John Robinson(lil’ sci), are two of the best emcees out there right now making good music. There vocal tone, lyrics & spittin’ style are futuristic, fresh, & a little on the abstract tip (especially John Robinson).
The new Nas & Damian Marley project is sounding pretty damn good as well.
But overall, I gotta say Black Thought is one of the dopest emcees ever! Been doing this shit forever. Switching it up and still keeping it fresh.

  • ZarZ

Jay is def not overated and worth all the hype & attention he is getting. Just wait til that album drops!!
…& MF Doom is one of the most unique emcees out there, but does not, in my opinion, sound anything like Jay Electronica.

  • mstar

Diddy is annoying. He always has to be on every track when he doesn’t even add anything of value to it -_-

  • jaysus

Shit’s hot. Nas and Doom blended is a good way to describe his flow. He doesn’t have the humor or clever wordplay or fucking weirdness of DOOM, but he’s a little more “traditional,” although he also has a strong Mos Def/Blackstar kind of vibe to his lyrics, with the poetic descriptions.

  • AxLe

The beat is sick no doubt!! I jus wish diddy would help promote with his voice in the begining and end of the song, I think him screaming and shouting and all that should chill, let jay spit his ish! and then u can say all the dumb ish u want, all in all this song is jus ok to me from Jay, lyrically he has been much better! I jus wonder where he is going with his sound for his album!

  • Blueflameagent3

Hey guys check this Diddy’s movie trailer entitled “Get Him to the Greek”. Copy this link: http://www.youtube.com/v/g9s0oYIP3Kc&hl=en_US&fs=1&

  • Res13

Diddy is awesome! Point made. Check out these picks from his latest movie – Get Him To The Greek – http://vibe.com/photo-galleries/freeze-frame-get-him-greek/1#tp

  • Bionic

Lovin this! Diddy’s got some great stuff going on. He’s co-signing with Jay Electronica, Dirty Money’s album, then he’s got Get Him to the Greek coming out next weekend. Can’t wait for that!

  • drewpac

it’s gonna come, and gonna come soon. good mixes take time, can’t mess with that
