Audio: Jane Doe "Bullshit" feat. Talib Kweli & Black Thought (Unreleased)
Posted by Shamz on Aug 04, 2008
Many of you may have forgotten (myself included) about a NY emcee by the name of Jane Doe. She definitely could spit, but kind of vanished into obscurity after awhile. Anyway, our boy 88-Keys was telling us he produced an album for her back in 2000 slated to be called The Introduction. Since it never came out (and never will), 88 said he would hit us with some tracks, starting with this one song called "Bullshit" feat. Talib Kweli and Black Thought.

I just found a blog with the whole album, apparently it leaked onto the net in 2003.

Jane Doe has a special gift of gab like no other to be quite honest. If only you could have all seen her bop. She heard & felt music way different from anybody else I have ever encountered. The best way I could describe it (& this is me not coming from any kind of musical background or any formal training in music notation or theory) most people hear & move to music in quarter notes... Jane Doe move to half notes. It was sick & very interesting to look at. Thanks for listening. I'll try [again] to get her out of 'retirement' one day but for now I have to focus on getting The Death of Adam out. In OTHER words: I gotta do me right now shawty! *said with Tennessee accent*

wow; i was just listening to the Black Star album saturday. I know all my real hip-hop supporters remember the last track, 'Twice Inna Lifetime'--"My vocab expand/like a rubberband/walkin' naked thru the Mother Land/give a finger to my brotherman/you zaggin just don't understand my reasons/i transend like season/and scar these rappers like lesion". Jane Doe had heat, and that was '98. Looking forward to hearing more from this lost gem...
