Audio: Inspectah Deck “The Champion (prod. The Alchemist)”

A few weeks ago, we got an early leak from Inspectah Deck, and word that his new solo LP, Manifesto will be out March 23rd. Today we have the official first single from The Rebel INS, "The Champion," produced by The Alchemist. I know some people were on the fence with the first track, but this one knocks.

Sounds like he is putting more into his music. He fell off for a moment but this sounds like vintage Deck. The Krs sample doesn’t go well it’s just off beat. I don’t make beats but I’m certain they could have matched the tempo. I distinctly remember listening to “Above The Clouds” thinking he is one of most slept on cats in the game out of the Wu.

I’m pretty sure its supposed to sound off. Al has done enough beats he’s not just slippin some off beat shit. Its supposed to sound juxtaposed.

Cozy track plus the Wu’s Fastest Shogun. Chours kind of spotty though. Deck is killer though.

Gotta watch sample placement. As a producer that loves the art of sampling, that KRS sample was risky. But creativity is all about risk!!
