Here's another banger for y'all. Today, we have the OKP premiere of DJ JS-1's new track "Ridiculous" featuring OC and Pharoahe Monch (with words from Common in the intro and outro). On June 23rd JS-1 will be releasing his new album, No Sell Out, via Fat Beats Records. The album is 21 tracks and features nearly 40 artists. He doesn't have a bunch of no names on here either. Over three years he put together this project featuring: KRS-ONE, Large Pro, Pharoahe Monch, Canibus, Sean Price, Blaq Poet, Killah Priest, Ill Bill, Kool Keith & Ced Gee (Ultramagnetic Mc's), Aesop Rock, Vast Aire, Chino XL, Sadat X, AG, OC, Craig G, CL Smooth, Edo G, Prince Po, Akrobatik, J-Live, Vinnie Paz of Jedi Mind Tricks, Rakaa of Dilated Peoples, Krondon, C Rayz Walz, Vast Aire, Nutrageous, Copywrite, PMD, Rahzel, EMC (Masta Ace, Strick, Wordsworth, Punchline), Termanology, Torae, Pumpkinhead, Jak D, Big Noyd, Q-Unique, Brother Ali, Slaine, Virtuoso, Pack FM, Supastition. Block McCloud, Trez, Rugged Intellect, and DJ Premier (god bless the inventor of Copy + Paste). Scanning that lineup should be all the convincing you need to pick this one up. seems like it should be a cool project. . . lot of heads on that man
feel like he could have done more if he was going to re-chop “clouds in my sunshine.” verses are dope, tho.
man js 1 is not exactly ass cheeks but he leaves alot to be desired.
Well, line-up sounds dope. Track does, too, although part of the sampling was already flipped by Hi-Tek for Reflection Eternal’s “This means you”.
this shit wack just because of the beat we all know o.c. is better than this wack ass shit so is pharoahe monch
Not mind blowing, but not that bad either.
OC came with it as usual, but damn, Pharoahe killed that shit!
Ya’ll upset cause he used the same sample Hi-Tek used? I didn’t know it was some rule that says you’re not allowed to use a sample that someone else made famous. It’s done in music all the time. I dig for samples as a producer and I bet that if JS didn’t use the same section that Hi-Tek made famous, most of ya’ll wouldn’t have even known what it was anyway! Do ya thing, JS!
This is from ’99
It’s Dutch so you probably can’t understand..
Same damn beat, that’s how you chop that sample up!
Who was first…?

There’s no rule that says you can’t sample someone else’s song. But if you’re gonna do something Hi-Tek already killed, you better at least make it crazy. Seemed to me like lazy production, since it sounded nearly the same as “Reflections.” And you can’t mess with reflections!
