Audio: Common “Next Time” [Unreleased]

Hip Hop Since 79 got their hands on another unreleased Common track, this one entitled "Next Time." I believe this was recorded during the Finding Forever days. It may just be a demo track, I hear a few bars that sound similar to his FF track "Break My Heart."

  12. avatar hiphop maniac1

This is better than anything Common has been on since Dilla. Karriem Riggins is the truth!

  13. avatar ?uesto

i believe this song is the same Moments sample (sylvia robinson produced) that dilla used in “Crush All Night”

  14. avatar beatsandgoals.com

  17. avatar Believer

  18. avatar desmondo

very nice track – better than a lot of his more recent stuff

  19. avatar verd

    Probly sample clearance

  20. avatar KD06

Wow… he was at his zenith around this time. I’m certain Common will bring it back on this on. He’s one the few in the game who can make something experimental then come right back and kill it.

  21. avatar dapluva!

this the common sense i know fuck that techno pop universal fagnetic shit

  22. avatar Jahi

  26. avatar Rece

Real Nice Common Grove! He’s a very good story teller, some cats sleep on that! Shot’s to K. Riggins, keeping it in the pocket! Reppin’ the D! What Up Doe!?

  27. avatar HighLife

More weak Common sht. This only sounds good relative to the last two albums, Common was dope, now he’s nope. Hope he’s full filled by his “acting career” because he has certainly let the rest fade for it. I think one day we’ll hear what he has to say, but his artistry has withered up for now.

  28. avatar Electwonder

Real talk that had to be a true story… Com got go…

  29. avatar The.Way

I can hear why it was left out…..I’m not knocking it though…..I’ll run miles to it!

  30. avatar lezair

way better then “Break my Heart”!

  31. avatar Artistik

Im a Comm head , but this beat isnt moving i think thats why he left this off… And i heard the verse from Break My Heart, I said i got my SAG card baby imma Actor…..

  32. avatar dcnydc

It’s real layed back. Common is a true story teller. I like this one it’s like an old common joint.

  33. avatar Vante'Soul

yessir hott.. sir Com sense, karriem riggins my guys!!!
break my heart was my fave on finding forever check out a demo track i did for that album

Be refreshed the Common ‘sound’ after the experimental Electric Circus, which I still like. But I never really enjoyed Finding Forever, it felt like Be pt.2. UMC was just shit, Common spitting unnecessary raps over wack Neptunes beats. My favourite Common albums are Resurrection and Like Water For Chocolate.

  35. avatar suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

yo the arsonist used this sample on their track fatlaces on thier first album

  36. avatar DJ CROSSFADER

ELECTRIC CIRCUS WAS A CLASSIC 5 STAR ALBUM

  37. avatar borrowed a dollar

    this is sick

  38. avatar LandoCal24

I will be replacing a song off Finding Forever with this one.

  39. avatar Lala sugafoot

Lala Sugafoot digs this……………..That Ice Cube part is real talk..ha,ha

  40. avatar NY Finest DREB

I bet you that Karriem Riggins has given him a bunch of this type of Singles before…. (he use to be his tour drummer) why is Karriem not his main producer!!!?

  41. avatar Truth2Light

Daaaaaaang! Yo, Common! How did you digress from tracks like this to that UMC bullsh*t! STAY AWAY FROM PHARRELL…Please!!!

  42. avatar Putuma

This made me feel good. He took it back for real, both beat wiser and lyrically. You know what ? I thought I’d passed that phase, but I’d go there back with him if he made them songs like this one more gin. I’d cop.

  43. avatar SenSagius

This takes me back to the nostalgic realities I conjured up, steadily brewing in the days, Can I Borrow a Dollar, One Day It’ll All Make Sense, Ressurection and Like Water for Chocolate…post LWFC albums, (Electric Circus, Be, Finding Forever) all get props…

Still trying to let UMC marinate in my head but hey, to each his own!

    Godspeed Com Sense!

  44. avatar SenSagius

Who’s the woman in the sample???? I want this original joint!

  45. avatar xolani

damn! i dig this joint, the beat complements Common’s storytelling skills

  46. avatar Leazea!

This is some dope shit! I always dig Common best over the jazzinspired beats he “used” to rap over.. All praise to Kareem Riggins for this one.. http://www.laezea.com

  47. avatar intelligentRebelLion.org

    Beautiful music!

  48. avatar Radar Communication Records

Lovin this track. It brings back memories of being here in the Chi when Common was Common Sense tryin to Borrow A Dollar. Lazy tranquael jazzy track soulful chorus and Rasheed doin his thing. Hope Common comes full circle to this again.. Those who don’t like it arent real Common fans or true hip hop fans… And yeah the Electric Circus was a mess lol…Luv when he works with NO.ID he needs to stay away from people like Kanye and the neptunes ie Pharell as they do not match his ability and basically they just suck lol…..I used to Love here and I hope common will luv her again…real hip hop

  49. avatar C Wade

I HOPE that there is a Dilla element on this next album.

  50. avatar cleevo

whoever made this beat must have heard the arsonists track that used this beat

  51. avatar Fred B

Get off that BS Electric Circus was/is a classic! Just as the other jawnts. Chi-Town love for Com always

  52. avatar ILL 7

This track has a dope vibe to it!!

  53. avatar Jsoul aka The Black Sinatra

    CRACK! … Dope fein lean
