Billed as a “brooding single,” Pell’s “golden” finds him kicking self-doubt to the curb in favor of capitalizing on opportunity. A must listen track if we say so.

Co-produced by Pell and Billy Cigarette, “golden” finds our hero from the Crescent City deflecting the rigors of self-doubt in favor of accepting the promise of opportunity. Sharing with us, the listener, his inner turmoil, Pell continues to build on his reputation as a bare-bones, tell-it-like-it-is artist. Together with a closing verse from the indomitable VÉRITÉ, “golden” is full of confidence, reassurance in one’s abilities and flyer than a pelican surfboarding on a cloud.

As Pell is currently soaking up sun rays in Los Angeles, his forthcoming EP, girasoul is coming up on its Dec. 8 release date. Payday Records surely has something cooking with this project, and we suggest getting your pre-order in as soon as you can. girasoul, which comes from the Spanish word for sunflower, is meant to signify personal growth and evolution for Pell. According to the release given to us, Pell has taught himself to play guitar, keyboard, read sheet music and harness his abilities as a producer and musician ever since his previous release, LIMBO came out in 2015.

girasoul will also be the first release on the newly revamped Payday Records label. Big moves for the company that’s commemorating its 25th year in the game. For those not old enough to remember, Payday was the original home to artists such as Jay-Z, Yasiin Bey and Showbiz & AG, so you know that they know how to build an artist for longevity.
Press play on “golden” below, pre-order girasoul here and stay tuned as we will have Pell in the office for a special episode of OKP Live on Dec. 4.
