Moments With: Big Boi As He Talks ‘Boomiverse,’ Sameness In Hip-Hop & Dave Chappelle
The architect behind Boomiverse, Big Boi, chopped it up with @Okayplayer for another edition of Moments With.
Following up our episodes with Charlie Wilson and Faith Evans, this edition features the legendary, diamond-selling artist, Big Boi, and boy was it an honor to have such a hip-hop legend in the building. In town promoting his latest project, Boomiverse, the OutKast great broke bread with us and offer some game on a myriad of subjects.
With Sleepy Brown along for the ride, but staying behind the scenes — Big Boi was jovial, ready to chat at length about the work he accomplished with Boomiverse and recall some choice moments with some fellow hip-hop legends. “First thing that comes to mind is Pocket Full Of Stones,” Sir Luscious Left Foot said in regards to Pimp C. “Skipping school, me and André in the 10th grade with our homeboy named Stealer Lamar because he used to steal cars and we’d ride around with him. We’d pop that tape in and listen to UGK’s Pocket Full Of Stones.”
The almost seven-minute sit-down finds Big also talking about why Rico Wade is considered hip-hop’s Yoda, how he views the Dungeon Family’s legacy in hip-hop, how he connected with Dave Chappelle and more.
Don’t waste any more time waiting. Press play on the video above, cop Boomiverse, and enjoy these jewels from one of the best in the game.
