Laurin Talese's Soulful "Winter" Will Help You Get Through The Rest Of The Season [Video Premiere]

The moment Laurin Talese starts to sing in her music video for "Winter," you suddenly feel warmer. The coldness of the setting becomes an afterthought behind her smooth and warm vocals, rising and falling with a masterful control that highlights Talese's abilities as a singer.

Written by Talese and Eric Wortham II, "Winter" is a beautiful blend of jazz and soul, with production from Adam Blackstone (musical director for Justin Timberlake and Nicki Minaj), as well as guest contributions from Robert Glasper providing a foundation for Talese's rich vocals.

"I met Robert Glasper over a decade ago and I am happy to call him a friend," Talese said over email. "We toured together while in Bilal's band. So when Adam and I asked him if he wanted to be a part of my album he jumped right in!"

Aside from the actual song another notable part of the video is the house that it's shot in, which Talese and her brother (and videographer for the video) WFRSON found on Airbnb.

"It's called the 'Ex of In House' [in Rhinebeck, New York] and is part of the T Space project by architect Steven Holl," Talese said. "It is set up for Airbnb guests in order to raise funds for the nonprofit project, which operates a gallery, architecture fellowship, and sculpture trail. All the proceeds are directly sustaining this educational initiative."

"Winter" comes from Talese's 2016 debut Gorgeous Chaos, a 12-track album that is an enjoyable introduction to the talented singer. Her vocal talents have allowed her to work with Bilal, Vivian Green, and Jaguar Wright, as well as travel across the world. And although she's a Cleveland native, Talese is happy to be contributing to the rich musical history of Philadelphia, where she resides.

"Philadelphia is one of my favorite cities in the world! In addition to the unique combination of glamour and grit that the city possesses, the talent is undeniable," Talese said. "From classical to jazz, hip hop to pop, there are many game-changing artists who call Philly home. I am honored to have the opportunity to build upon this rich legacy."

Currently, Talese is involved in a number of projects this year that include a live EP as well as the follow-up to Gorgeous Chaos.
