Jay-Z's '4:44' Album Is Certified Platinum By The RIAA
Forget all that pretty Shawn Carter ish, people, HOV has gone platinum again!
With 4:44 burning out of speakers here in New York and around the country, it seems that making history is just another thing when it comes to being Jay-Z. The Roc Nation impresario has done what no other person in hip-hop has done by selling one million records for his new album, 4:44.
Certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), Jay-Z’s 13th studio album has set the standard for platinum, quality hits in the hip-hop industry. Suffice it to say that Hall of Fame Hov is popping bottles of D’Usse right now to celebrate the fact that he is the only hip-hop artist with more than 10 RIAA Platinum (or higher) studio albums.
Add to the mix his platinum plaques for collaborating with Kanye West, Linkin Park and R. Kelly, and the game will forever have to call Jay-Z the Platinum Pioneer. “Props to Jay-Z, he’s done it again! Another Platinum album adds to an already iconic career,” RIAA Chairman and CEO, Cary Sherman said in a press release.
